I almost lost my grip because of that bastard. Of course he found you, his perfect little family is gone now, my mind sneered.
I closed my eyes before snapping it back open. Just focus on getting down okay Shay? I thought to myself before looking down trying not to make sound as much as possible as I edged down the pipe slowly.
My arms were straining because of my weight and I almost cursed myself for being so lazy. Those extra snicker bars are gaining on you dammit!
I breathed out shallowly and finally I was about two feet above the ground. My legs were dangling and I hopped down, landing on the ground with an quiet thud.
I crouched low wondering to myself, why the hell am I crouching. And quickly stood up and ran around to the front of the house.
I looked back at where I landed and up to the window I saw my dear stepfather looking at me with murderous eyes. I ran faster turning around the corner and quickly skidded to a stop. I saw nothing out in the drive way and assumed that he came alone.
I ran down the driveway as quickly as possible without face planting. I cursed quietly when my feet starts to hurt from the constant pressure I keep putting because of the steepness of the driveway.
God dammit Logan why do you have such long driveways! I heard the engine of a car and thought for a quick second that it was the car behind me but as I finally made it to the bottom of the elegant gate an another car came in. The sporty looking car.
It's Logan you dumbass, my mind yelled at me and I quickly tried to signal him to stop without getting run over. How the hell did David even get in if there's gate? I wondered but I quickly shook my head, now is not the time to think about these things.
Logan pulled down the window looking worried as he took in my exhausted shape.
"Whoa what's wrong?" He asked me and I put my hands on my knees catching my breath.
"I- I- ther-" I put my finger up in a just a second sign and took a couple of more deep breaths. "Crazy stepfather is in my room and tried to kill me if I'm right and I'm pretty sure I left my phone playing Call Me Maybe." I said in one breath.
"Whew. Wo- on damn. That felt like a massive workout." I said still trying to catch my breath.
"Wait what?" Logan asked me and I gave him a flat look.
"Logan you dumbass did you not hear anything I just said?" I asked standing up in a normal position but going to back to crouching mumbling a never mind and continued breathing.
"No I heard yo-! I'm going to kill that motherfucker!" Logan exploded getting out of the car and marching up the driveway.
"Whoa whoa whoa, we should just get out of here!" I exclaimed catching his elbow and yanking him back.
"Well I can't let him go wandering again!" He argued back.
"He's dangerous, Logan. Even if he's an old hag, he's stronger than he looks." I said and he looked down at me, looking utterly lost himself.
"I don't want you to ever get hurt again by him." He whispered and I knocked his chest lightly.
"Can we just call the cops, I mean he did break into your house." I said instead and he shrugged going back to the car, breaking our could-have-been-moment.
"I guess." He replied and got his phone out, dialing 911.
"Hmm yes yes, we have a problem." He said through the phone looking towards me. "Yeah my friends abusive fathe-" I coughed. "Stepfather, broke into my house so yeah. Do you mind if you just arrest him?" He asked and I looked at him with a flat look. "No? What do you mean no? Oh so I need evidence now?" He exclaimed and I walked up to him plucking his phone out of his hands.
"Can you just send some cops because my stepdad is seriously in his house and he's crazy." I spoke up and the call lady finally agreed. I told her the address and Logan looked at me pouting while I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out.
"Oh I have to stay in line with you?" I asked and she answered with a yes.
I sighed. "Fine I guess, hey Logan let's get in the car. I want to ask the gate dude something." I spoke up putting the phone away for a while.
"Yeah sure I guess. Do you mean Carl?" He asked as we got in the car and he started the car reversing it.
I shrugged. "Is that his name?" I asked and he nodded.
"Okay then Carl, did you let that crazy old hag in?" I asked as the car pulled up beside gates.
Carl shrugged typing in some codes in his technology thingy in his little space. "Nope. But I heard from Jimmy that he saw someone in the woods behind your house Logan." He told us.
"Okay who the hell is Jimmy?" I spoke out loud slouching in the seat.
"Jimmy is the security guard who usually only patrols the back of the house." Logan said to me and I sighed.
"Is there anybody else I should know about?" I asked and he shrugged.
"There's Luise." He said and I looked at him with a questioning look. "The chef." He said and I rubbed my eyes.
"There was a chef this whole entire time and I never noticed?" I groaned and Logan just laughed at me.
"Hey what's that?" Logan asked as he squinted his eyes looking ahead. I sat up straight and looked where he was looking and I saw a tiny figure running towards us getting bigger and bigger as it charged at us.
"Wait that's your stepdad- fuck!" He exclaimed fumbling with the keys in the car. "Wait what do we do?" He asked me panicking.
I shrugged. "Drive him over." I said bluntly and he shrugged.
"Maybe the cops will come by the time he's here." He suggested and we both looked at each other while Carl looked bored.
"He is pretty old. I bet he'll break a leg before he manages to get down here." I snickered and almost felt bad. Almost.
___"This was like the most anti climatic arrest ever." Logan said from beside me and I nodded.
"Yeah. I honestly thought there would be more action." I said and looked ahead at the flashing lights of cop cars.
"Well at least it's over." Logan said and I shrugged frowning.
"I guess." I said and we both lapsed into silence.
Logan scooted more closer to me before he slung an arm around me pulling me closer. "By the way, you're going to explain what happened to my mom." He whispered to me and I let out a short laugh.
"Fine." I said and leaned my head against his chest and continued watching the aftermath.
