I yawn and stretch my arms out totally forgetting something.
"Shit, ow ow ow." I hiss and jump out of bed as I cradle my half healed arm. I hop around in a crouching position even though I know all too well it's not helping. Suddenly Logan barges into my room with a worried look, Gabe looking sleepy coming after him.
"What happened? Are you okay?" He asks me crouching next to me.
"Yeah I just accidentally stretched my arm." I say still holding my arm.
"Oh." He says and looks kind of embarrassed. I yawn again and look around for a clock, wait I forgot it's not my room.
"What time is it?" I ask rubbing my eyes.
"About 9. And I made breakfast!" He says excitedly. I just raise my eyebrows and stand up, shuffling over to Gabe ushering him to the living room.
"Is this the fist time you made breakfast?" I ask him while I raise myself up to one of the stools, helping Gabe up. Logan goes over to the counter and gives me and Gabe some omelet and juice.
"No, I just never had anyone to cook for." He says dumping some of the pans and cups in the sink.
"Oh, I can cook but I never made anything extravagant." I say taking a bite of the omelet. Oh my god, this is so good.
"So do you like it?" He asks me nervously.
"Like it? I love it!" I say, quickly scarfing down the omelet. I drink the orange juice down with it.
"Really? I'm glad that you loved it." He says brighting up. He takes my plate and dump it into the sink. I look over at Gabe who's still half asleep so he's just stabbing his omelet. I smile at him, he's so cute. I look at him more closely and notice he still has some bruises from that bastard. Suddenly I have the urge to beat that motherfucker.
"What happens to my parents now?" I asked.
Logan stays silent before he answers. "Honestly I don't know why you haven't reported them yet." He said sighing.
"Oh I wanted to. But what will happen to Gabe and I? They'll put us in foster care, since I'm not 18 yet I'm not old enough to take him with me. They'll separate us Logan, I can't risk losing Gabe." I said my voice breaking a little.
"I'm sorry, but you're safe now. Maybe you can tell someone now." He said softly.
"I guess. But" I sigh. "Can I have some time? Until everything calms down a little?" I asked.
"Yeah sure. And do you want to decorate your room today since I never got to get?" He asked.
"Sure. And what day is it?" I asked, I never really paid attention to the dates when I was in the hospital.
"It's Friday." He responds.
"Don't you need to go to school?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"Nope, because I'm going to take care of you until you can go to school." He said.
"And your mom is okay with that?" I asked taking Gabe's plate.
"Yeah, she understands the situation your in." He responds taking the plate from me.
"Alright whatever. Oh and can you take Gabe to school? Even though he's probably late, I don't want him to miss school because of me." I asked.
"Yeah sure, are you coming?" He asked getting his keys.
"Nope, I need to unpack some stuff." I said getting Gabe's backpack and some fruits to take with him. I hand it to him as Logan unlocks the car. I say bye to both of them and close the door. I pad across the hallway and go to my room. It feels so weird saying that.
