There was once a girl who had nothing. No family, no friends, no home. No love. She also had no color in her eyesight, black and white being the only shades she witnessed. She needed someone to love her in order for her to see the beautiful hues of the world.
There was once a boy who had everything. Money, friends, and family. Anything he wanted, he had. Except love. He had never had a relationship make him happy; his heart was cold. He needed someone to make it beat, to warm him up.
One day, the girl was rescued by a boy. The moment she laid her eyes on him, a glorious world of color was exposed to her. No more black and white. The boy's heart started beating faster than it ever had before as an overwhelming feeling of warmth invaded his senses. They were in love at first glance. The boy took the girl in, and they were happy. Both of them, finally happy.
As time went by, the boy's heart didn't beat the same way. The warmth he felt for the girl was fading. He smiled at her differently, handled her less gently, became distant. He was not satisfied with the girl; her love was not enough for him. He wasn't happy anymore.
The girl's eyesight was fading, the colors becoming dull. She became sad. She offered so much to the boy, almost more than she had to give. She loved him more than she had the will to live. Her love for the boy got stronger as his love for her faded away, and she felt every agonizing second of it. Her love was not enough for him anymore.
On one particularly stormy day, the boy took the girl for a drive. The girl was tired, groggy, everything was blurry to her. The boy was tired, too, only not physically. He had ran out of love for the girl. He felt nothing for her anymore.
The boy asked the girl to get out of the car so that they could talk. She complied, wanting nothing more than to make him happy. If only she knew it was too late. The boy explained to the girl that his feelings for her had faded, and that he could no longer be with her. The girl, heartbroken, begged the boy to stay with her. But, it was no use. He didn't love her anymore, and there was nothing she could do. She fell to her knees, the pain in her heart causing her to shake. The boy, only feeling guilty, hesitantly got in his car and left behind the one that loved him the most.
As the girl looked up, sitting in a shower of rain and tears and finally opening her eyes to her reality, she saw that she was right back where she started. She had nothing except, this time, she had a heart so full of love that it was tearing at the seams.
As the rain subsided, her tears did not. She wiped some of them from her eyes as she saw the outline of a glorious rainbow.
The sad part was that she could not see the colors.

The purest love is an unrequited love; devoting your heart to someone even though you receive nothing in return.
