I just wanna know that you're okay.
I'll be okay
"There's something wrong with her."
Sally's spine stiffened. She stopped herself from entering the kitchen, her hand resting on the wall.
"Rachel." LeRoy snapped at her. "Don't say things like that about your cousin."
Rachel sighed. "I don't mean it like that. I'm truly concerned about her behavior. You're not around her as much as I am. I thought that maybe after awhile of living with us, she'd open up to me or that being around family would have her smiling again like she used to but..."
"Rachel." LeRoy's voice softened. "Sally went through a traumatic ordeal. My sister went into a depression when her husband passed. Sally was living with a mother who was barely there, and she lived like that for three years without anyone else knowing. We shouldn't expect anything from her."
Sally felt herself shake at the mention of her mother and father. A mixture of anger and dread.. Feelings she tried to keep buried because of the memories they bring with them.
"But Dad, shouldn't she see a therapist or someone? It's like she's constantly bottling up her feelings, that can't be healthy."
"Right now, the priority is giving her the love she lacked those 3 years. She's always been a charming girl, and sometimes I see that side of her." LeRoy paused. "We don't turn our back on family, Rachel."
Rachel scoffed. "I'm not! I'm always trying to help, with glee--"
"I know you do, honey. But, you do sometimes come off too strong to others. Sally's not exactly like you, she's her own person. Rather than pushing her towards your same path, why not help her on her own?"
Sally blinked, feeling tears welling in her eyes. She had stopped listening to their conversation since Rachel brought up a therapist. The anger blinding her vision, all she could do was remain standing stalk still before the entryway to the kitchen. To try and get herself to move away, she took a deep shaky breath.
