Stop being a pansy
"Hey!" An arm looped around Sally's arm. Startled, Sally jerked away from the grasp. "Oh sorry." Rachel remarked, taking note of Sally's reaction. "I was looking for you! Are you going to lunch?"
Sally crossed her arms and nodded as she continued down the hallway towards the cafeteria. Rachel continued to walk beside her.
"I wanted to talk to you about something." Rachel continued.
Sally's muscles tensed up and she gave her full attention to her cousin. Hesitantly, she asked, "What about?" She hoped Rachel wasn't trying to have a continuation of their previous conversation that took place in Sally's bedroom.
"Finn and I were talking and we have this great idea." Rachel beamed. Sally continued to look at her with a blank face, although inside she was filled with anxiety. "We think if you and Sam Evans pair up for the duet competition, you two might have a chance of winning which in turn can you give you two a good boost of confidence in being apart of New Directions!"
Sally's shoulders relaxed. This conversation topic had nothing to do with her past. As they entered the cafeteria, Rachel's spiel clicked and Sally abruptly stopped to stare at her cousin questioningly. "Wait, what?"
"Great idea, right?" Rachel grinned. "And Sam is cute, so maybe you two would hit it off at Breadstix!"
Sally paused, taking in all that Rachel had said. Dueting with Sam Evans wasn't a bad idea. The guy sparked her interest. Still, the events of the previous day flashed in the back of her mind; of her and Puck in the auditorium.
"So you want me to duet with Sam and... win?"
Rachel nodded excitedly, then she paused for a millisecond and shrugged, "Well, try to win. Finn and I are quite the competition. So is Mercedes... and Santana, and Kurt, and -"
Sally cut her off, "And neither of those things are going to happen." She stated before walking into the cafeteria line and picking up a tray. Rachel followed her.
