And I thought I had it bad. Qulil had a family! And he watched his partner and one of his cubs die.
"My god," I said, "I'm so sorry,"
He look at me confused, "Why?" he asked, "you didn't do anything,"
I thought about that for a long time. Why did I? Why did I feel bad for this stranger?
"I don't know," I started, "guess I could relate to you,"
He look at me, "Really? How?"
"I guess you can say that I had a family too."
"But I thought-"
"Yeah I am, but I met this other wolf. His name is Ash. Gorgeous looking wolf, very handsome, strong, and kind. Especially to me."
"And you fell in love with him?"
"Sadly,"
He faced me real fast, so fast that I didn't even see him move.
"Did you just say sadly?"
"Um, yes?"
"July was right, there are dumber wolfs out there in the world."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Love is the best thing to ever happen to us living things. Love can't be explained or told. It can't be taken away, or break. It can only get stronger, it can only be experienced."
"But he lied to me!" I barked, "I can't trust him anymore!"
Even though I shouted he didn't even flinch, this guy must be one tough wolf.
He stood up and his eyes met mine.
"Did he lie, or keep a secret?"
I froze, he was right he didn't lie to me. But that only made it worse. He kept the most important thing in my life away from me!
"Ether way he still betrayed me!"
He looked at me for a while. Then he asked, "What was this secret he kept from you?"
"That I was the last white wolf. That I didn't have a family waiting for me, or a pack that could want me."
He flinched, yup that was obviously important.
"Wow," he said, "that's something." But then he cleared his throat and said, "So how would you would've felt if he told you this right away?"
"Sad I guess, angry." I answered.
"Why do you think he kept this secret from you?"
I felt a tear run down my face, the truth was all starting to come to me.
I started to cry, "So that I wouldn't feel that." I hit the floor of me cage and burst out crying.
I had ran away because Ash was trying to protect me.
