As we chewed quietly on our muffins, while Alisha drove to the cinema, I revised my plans for the day. 'Right... If we manage to get an 11:30 movie we should be done by 1 in the afternoon. Then lunch should be about an hour and a half. So that's 2:30 pm. Then we should be home just after 3. Alright... I'll be a bit late... Still have to set up... I should be fine.'
Once I had finished, I realised I had zoned out for quite a while and came back to everyone talking amongst themselves. "What did I miss?" I asked, folding my muffin wrapper and putting it away. "Nothing much. Where did you zone off to?" Andrea asked. "I was just going through what we're doing today. Planning before hand." I said. "You need to chill with planning everything," she said, looking up from her phone. "Let life happen."
"I like to know what I'm going to do before I do it," I said shrugging. "You wed to learn to just go with the flow..." Trish said, "Be spontaneous." I stared at her as she relaxed in her seat and put her earphones in her ear. "When did she become a health guru?" Nirvana asked, looking back at Trish. "It's usually me." Taaliah said, leaning back in her seat. "The roles of this group are changing..." Alexis said, wiggling her fingers. "I'll still be the mom of the group," Alisha said. "That at least won't change," I said, laughing. "Well, anyway," Andrea started, "Today feels like a good day," she said looking outside the car window. As we all sat in silence, Nirvana turned up the volume on the car radio, and we carried on enjoying the calm atmosphere.
After a while, the car came to a stop. "We're here" Alisha said, parking the car. Everyone then unbuckled their seatbelts and gathered their possessions. "Has anyone seen my phone?" Alexis asked, checking her pockets. "Here." I said, taking her phone out of my bag. "Where did you get it?" she asked, taking her phone from me. "You left it on top of the kitchen counter," I said, opening the car door. "Thanks." she said, putting her phone in her pocket. "Does everyone have their things?" Alisha asked, closing the car door behind her. Everyone confirmed that they had their things, then Alisha locked the car and we all started walking into the cinema.
"Alright, let's split up. Two of us can get the tickets. The rest can get their food," I said. "We'll go get the tickets" Nirvana and Andrea offered. Nodding at them, I added, "We'll me you guys at the concessions stand."
As they turned to walk to the ticket counters, we started our walk to the concessions stand. "I'm actually quite excited for this movie!" Trish exclaimed. "Apparently the reviews are really good for this movie," I said, searching in my bag for my purse. " What's everyone gonna get?" Taaliah asked. "Just a regular combo will be fine for me." I said. Everyone started discussing what they would get. Once we got to the concessions stand, everyone made their orders and paid for their things.
We waited for Andrea and Nirvana to get back from the ticket counters. Once they got back, they quickly made their orders and we started walking to our movie theatre.
As we walked into the theatre room we put our phones on vibrate/silent. "Don't eat all your popcorn. I'm not sharing." Taaliah said. "Shush, the movie will start soon." Trish whispered to us. We found our seats and settled down just as the movie trailers were about to start.
*Time skip to the end of the movie*
"THAT WAS SO GOOD!" Alexis exclaimed, as we made our way out the movie theatre. "I really enjoyed it too!" I said, throwing away my empty things. I took my phone out of my bag to check the time. 'Good. It's 1pm. Now to get some lunch and we'll be on our way!'
"So where do you guys want to eat?" Andrea asked. "I'm actually quite tired," Trish said. "How about we just get something from Starbucks? Then we can go back home." Taaliah suggested. "Sounds good to me!" Alisha said, "We have food at the house anyway."
'Well isn't that convenient?' I thought.
"Good idea!" Andrea said, smiling.
"Onwards to Starbucks we go!" I said, grinning. As we walked along to Starbucks, we saw a few of our friends on the way.
"Hey there!" Olivia exclaimed, walking quickly towards us. "Hi!" we all chorused as we walked closer to her. "I'm here too!" Leah said, walking towards us as well. "It's been a while! How've you been?""Awesome!" Olivia said eagerly, smiling. "I've been good," Leah said, putting her hands in the pockets of her hoodie. "How about you guys?" Olivia asked. "We've been good!" I said, smiling. "We were about to head to Starbucks to get something, then go back to (Y/N)'s house." Alisha explained. "You guys want to come with?" Taaliah asked. "No, it's alright. We were going back to Olivia's house to hang out. Then do some other stuff." Leah said. "Oh, bummer. Hope you have fun!" Trish said, grinning at them.
"We will! Bye!" Olivia said, taking Leah's arm and walking away. "Well isn't she energetic?" Andrea said, laughing. "She always is." I said, laughing with her. We carried on walking in silence until we reached Starbucks. We walked inside and decided what we would all get. Once it was our turn, we walked to the the front counter to place our orders.
Thankfully it was not too busy today, so we didn't have to wait too long. We had our names called out and we received our beverages. Then we stayed our journey back to Alisha's car.
