"And what are you doing home?" Gerard and Mikey froze at the front door, simultaneously looking up at their mother whose arms were crossed, as she looked at the two boys.

Her foot was tapping at a fast pace and she waited impatiently for an answer from one or, preferably both, of her sons who just looked at eachother for a moment before Gerard noticed the clock and realised that school got out five minutes ago.

"School finished," he said, motioning to the clock with his eyes and smirking at Mikey as if he was victorious or something when his mother looked at the clock before they both turned back to lock eyes again.

Her eyebrow was raised this time and Gerard swallowed, thinking he had lost, that she knew they skipped the rest of school, and maybe if he didnt have a visibly bruised eye, he would get away with it maybe.

Like maybe she would think he had a black eye and decided to ditch school in order to not be made fun of or something, which really, wasn't at all far from the truth. And he knew his mother wouldn't take that as an excuse considering Gerard had once broken his foot falling down the stairs but walked it off for five hours until they had forced him to go to the hospital.

Gerard hated doctors, he would avoid them if possible.

"It did," she noted, nodded, "but still, you shouldn't have been here for another twenty minutes at least."

Gerard bit his lip, thinking over some sort of lie in his mind. His mother had caught him in a few lies, and he knew if he was too be caught in this lie he and Mikey would be grounded, but even if he told the truth she would probably still ground them, just for a shorter amount of time.

But Gerard felt like he could get away with this one, and even if she did catch them, she wouldn't have any proof or evidence to back her up on this, unless she actually called the school, then yeah, Gerard would be busted.

But he felt like he could do this, so he decided he would lie, it was sort of like an all or nothing deal, either he lies and gets away with it, no consequences, or lie and she doesn't believe him, ending with a two week or so grounding.

"We... ran," Gerard spoke with some, hopefully undetected, fear in his voice, "wanted to get home early y'know?"

"Even if you did run, which is by the way, something I know Gerard Way never does," his mother began, looking between both of her sons, "you still would have been another ten minutes."

Gerard felt like his lie had been shot through, but he remembered the bruise on his eye and decided to add truth into his lie to make it more believable, it had to work, right?

Probably not, she was already on to him but Gerard was determined and stubborn, he was not going to back out now, not matter how hard Mikey was pinching his arm, not wanting to be caught in his brother's lie.

"Well, we left early," he said, noticing his mothers eyebrow raise higher if possible, "but, it was only because some kid punched me near the end of school and the nurse allowed us to leave early."

His mother pursed her lips, thinking it over, and Gerard thought she actually believed him for a moment, but he was still unsure. His mother was smart, she knew things. She was a mother of course, it seemed as though all mothers knew everything.

"Okay," she said, nodding, "but why did Mikey come home with you?"

"He said he didn't know the way home well enough," Gerard spoke quickly, his lie hopefully tying together well enough to be completely believable.

Gerard and Mikey were both worried, knowing their mother was sneaky, she had her ways of knowing, and Mikey felt his heart sink lower and lower into the pit of his stomach as he knew he would be grounded.

"Okay," she smiled and the boys instantly felt relieved as she had bought their lie, ready to walk off before they heard the dreaded 'wait'. They looked back at their mother who was grinning at the two of them. "If that's true, than why did I get a call from your school that both of you hadn't been in classes since lunch?"

And they were defeated, looking at eachother as thought they lost some kind of war and were thoroughly annoyed about it. What highschool actually calls home, anyway?

"Gerard you're grouned for two weeks for lying to me, and Mikey, you're grounded for one because you were in on it," she smiled, and Mikey nudged Gerard muttering something like 'thanks, prick juice', causing Gerard to roll his eyes at whatever the hell prick juice was.

The boys made their way to the stairs, about to walk up before freezing when they heard their mother clear her throat, and they turned back in fear as she was smiling at the two of them.

'Could she be anymore evil?' Gerard thought bitterly to himself.

"Since it's literally your first day, I have decided to double your grounding time, that's two and four weeks now, let this be a lesson to you," she smiled before walking off and Mikey shoved Gerard up the stairs.

He was pissed and Gerard understood, but it was too late now.

Gerard didn't really mind all that much, he didn't have any friends, his old friends didn't seem to know who he was so he felt alone, but Mikey had friends and Gerard took away his chances of hanging out with them after school and on weekends for two weeks.

Gerard should've left Mikey out of his lie, but then again he couldn't have, because it would make no sense otherwise, would it?

Gerard sighed, lying comfortably across is unmade bed, sighing softly to himself. He decided that somehow he would make it up to Mikey, maybe buy him a new record or something.

He reached over to his cd player, his record player currently in Mikey's room, pressing the play button and deciding to listen to whatever was on, and he couldn't lie that he wasn't all that mad when some Taylor Swift song came on.

It sounded like early Taylor Swift which pleased him, it was nice and relaxing, just what he needed, although he wasn't sure why he had Taylor Swift's music anyway, maybe his mother came into listen to it or something.

He decided not to dwell on it too much, he didn't mind it, it was a nice song, he didn't know the name of it but it was nice and quiet which is what he needed right now while he drifted off to sleep, well- it was a five minute nap as his brother bursted into his room annoying him, yelling about the fact that he was listening to Taylor Fucking Swift.

And well now, both Way brother's had a black eye.
