Ross

Her face fell.

The camera men came out with big smiles, along with Rocky, and they were all laughing hysterically. I wanted to laugh, I wanted to, really. But her perfect little face teared up and stared at me.

They all surrounded us and their laughing filled my ears. I felt my grin form on impulse, and I stared down at her.

Then she ran.

She just, ran.

She didn't take the elevator, she ran down the stairs.

"And her face! Did you see her face?!" I heard but it didn't come very clearly.

"Hannah! Stop! Come back!" I tried to run after her, but I couldn't. The crowd surrounded me and laughed in my ears, making them ring.

"Guys, really funny! Now let me go!"

I pried them off me. I took the elevator to the floor, knowing I could stop her in the hotel room.

The ride seemed to take forever, but when the doors finally opened, I sprinted down the hallway and into the room. It was completely cleaned of everything except for a note on the television.

Ross-
We left, and what you did was unforgivable! How could you do this to her? I can't believe I ever began to think you guys were perfect or we could be friends! You can forget about New Years, and forever!
~An unhappy Carissa and broken Hannah :'( </3

I checked my phone then. A text from Rocky and Hannah and three voicemails from Mom.

I checked Hannah's text before I replied to anyone. She wrote:

Ross, I really thought you were the one that could take me. But I can't believe you did that to me. You broke my heart on a television show! If you were a man like you say you are, you would've broke up with me in private! I was a fool to think you actually loved me, my uglyness would ruin your "reputation" that Rocky texted me about earlier. I threw the ring off the empire state building where the real Christmas party was. I never want to see you again.

"WHY DO I ALWAYS MESS UP?" I yelled at the ceiling and fell over on the bed.

"That's what I'm wondering," Riker stood in the frame of the doorway.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the Christmas party?" I choked back tears of anger.

"No," he said carelessly, picking lint off his tie,"I helped the girls pack up, and I thought I should stick around to ask you why you did what you did."

"Ugh, it was Rocky's idea," I started, "When he got a phone call from that show on television that pranks people with the sickest pranks. Rocky thought I should prank Hannah by making her go up to the roof of the hotel for the party instead of the Empire State building. No one else knew but us, and the crew guys. And when we all met up when Hannah was getting ready, they had something completely different planned. They wanted me to fake a mugging and propose to her with a diamond ring Rocky bought in my name without my persission. I rejected, saying it was enough to just leave her hanging. But they insisted, saying that it would make R5 more well-known, and they were all pressuring me. You know how I am when it comes to pressure and that's what happened. Then afterwards they all ran out laughing at her."

Riker came and sat by me and patted my back.

"Oh little brother, I'm sorry you suck so bad at this," he said as sympathetically as he could. I sighed and turned away from him.

"I just wish I could apologize. I know they don't want to see me, but I really messed up this time, Riker."

"Call her on my phone," Riker grumbled, taking it out of his pocket, "I hate it when Carissa's ticked."

I jumped up and hugged him. Then I unlocked it and dialed her number.

Ring, Ring.

"Hello? Riker, why are you calling-"

"Hannah," I breathed out, sensing her shivers from how cool my voice sounded.

There was shifting and a few complaints.

Click.

"You have ten seconds to give me every reason not to hang up right now," Carissa's voice broke over the line.

"Hannah, I'm deeply sorrowful for what happened. Rocky sent this thing up with a prank show without my consent and-"

"Ross, you've lied enough," Hannah's voice cracked, causing a tear to slip down my cheek.

"Hannah, I love you," my voice rang through the other end of the phone.

Click.

And that click sounded off all feeling in my body.

Because as she hung up, I lost my grip on reality.

And jumped out the six-story window in front of me.
