I glare out the window up at the beautiful 3 story mansion. I don't want to go inside. I'm not in the mood for this shit.

Deniel taps his index finger on the outside of the window my forehead is leaning against. "Rylan we have to go in now. We're already late."

He tries to open the door but it's locked. Silas is standing a few feet away twirling the keys in one hand with the other hand clutching a cellphone tightly to his cheek. He murmurs into the phone while Deniel tries to coax me out of the car.

"Ry they can't start the meeting without us so just come on and let's get this over with." I ignore him, mentally preparing myself for what I know is about to happen.

The validity of my course of action was confirmed when Great Alpha talked to me yesterday. There won't be any meaningful repercussions for Torrance Pack despite how much it is warranted. All they'll get is a fine and a public reprimand. I couldn't let him know that we were already preparing for war though. He may be by Great Grandfather, but he is still a member of the Council.

It was right of me to start planning for an attack when I did. All of our plans are under way, but they all depend on how this meeting goes. We'll be on the lookout for how the other packs receive the word of the attack. That will show us who will be on our side. And that will help us determine who to recruit.

So that means I can't behead Alpha Torrence in the middle of the room like I want to at the moment. I take another deep breath before I unlock the door and step outside. I start to walk towards the front door, Silas waving us on when I hesitate to wait for him.

Deniel and I walk inside and make our way down to the basement. This time I don't pause to take a breath at the bottom of the stairs, slamming the door open and walking right in. All eyes turn to look at us entering. Everyone else has already taken their seats and were listening to Elder Hemsley who stands in front of the Council on the stage.

"So nice of her highness to join us," I hear someone grumble from my left.

Deniel's step falters as his head whips over to see who it was, but I just keep walking toward the three empty seats in the front row. I plop down in my usual seat and lock my arms defensively over my chest, staring blankly at a spot on the wall behind Elder Hemsley as I wait for him to start talking again.

"Thank you for coming Alpha Mercy." Elder Hemsley acknowledges as he waits for everyone to turn their attention back to the stage.

I focus my gaze on him for a second before I return my attention back to the wall.

"As I was saying, it was brought to our attention 2 days ago that one of the packs in the Alliance was attacked..." Murmurs of concern break out across the room. "...by another pack in The Alliance."

The murmurs grow even louder at the newly divulged information. I try to listen to the specific comments, categorizing the packs that will be for or against us.

"It must be Mercy and Torrence." A beta murmurs immediately behind me.

"What I would have given to see that fight." Someone else chimes in.

"So that's why Alpha Torrence's arm is in a sling." An Alpha laughs.

"I bet Alpha Mercy fucked them up." Someone chuckles.

The sound of the door opening and closing gathers a few people's attention, but most others continuing on with their speculation. I hear a set of footsteps walk down the aisle and stop at the seat next to mine. Silas sits down quietly.

Right on time. Deniel grumbles sarcastically.

As always. I can hear the smirk in Sy's voice, but I'm sure if I bothered to look his face would be as blank as granite.
