The door splits in half with a crack, shards of wood flying in every direction. The chair that previously held the door in place lies in pieces on the ground as the broken half of the door falls forward to land on top of it. I'm already sitting up in bed, waiting for him. It seems like I've been waiting for this moment all night. For my entire life. The seconds turned into hours and the next thing I knew my whole life passed me by as I longed for his return. But the faint scent of pomegranate frosted pine trees makes every burning second I waited worth it.
The light from the hall casts a halo around his head as he stands at the entrance to the room. His mouth starts to move but I can't hear what he's saying. I watch as his hand flies into the screen of the television, silencing it one fell swoop. The sudden hush that falls over the room leaves a ringing in my ears and a hammering in my heart. But the pounding in my chest only grows stronger as he walks into the room with his hand, somehow uninjured, reaching out to me. My angel finally coming to save me from myself.
"Will you meet me halfway?" He murmurs as he walks to the bed, his palm cups my face. I shift forward onto my knees and reach out to him, pulling him closer as I run my fingers through his tangled hair.
"I'll do anything you want me to" I whisper breathily as I pull him onto the bed and wrap myself around him. My arms entwine around his neck and I wrap one of my legs around his waist to hold him close to me. He draws me in even tighter as his arms move around my waist and he pulls me on top of him. I press my face against the soft flesh pillowing his collar bone and breathe deeply the sweetly natural scent that is Ezra. His hands leave my waist temporarily to pull the blanket up around us, cocooning the two of us in our heated, problem free world.
"I'm yours forever. Never let me go." I hiccup in a breath that lights my soul on fire. Then take another one. And another one. My lungs being scorched from his being as I try to get high off of his essence.
"I won't baby girl." Ezra ties one of his arms around my waist and then takes the other and wraps it around the back of my neck, pulling my head deeper into his chest.
I close my eyes and just focus on breathing, suddenly unable to do the most basic of tasks.
What's happening to me? I ask Najee as my head swims.
The silence inside of my own mind is deafening. I can hear the ringing of my own empty thoughts bouncing around the inside of my head, but no one else is there. Where is she? SHy isn't she helping me?
Suddenly I can't breathe. The suffocating scent of sugar tangles itself in my nostrils and stops all of the oxygen from making its way to my brain. I try to tell Ezra to release me but I can't produce any sounds because my mouth is tucked tightly against his collarbone. I attempt to scream but he just pulls me tighter, cutting off all sound. His arm holds my thrashing body close to him as his hand tangles itself in my hair to try and hold me still.
"I love you Rylan," he murmurs into my hair. "And I'm never going to let you go."
My eyes roll to the back of my head as I go limp on his chest. All this time waiting for him and he's the reason I'm going to die.

I wake slowly; the faint, sweet scent that is burning its way through my nose finally rousing me from my slumber. I crack my eyes open carefully as I press my body deeper into the soft mattress, trying not to blind myself by the light streaming in through the uncovered window. I stretch my arms over my head as I point my toes toward the edge of the bed. I dig a single finger in my ear as I try to hear anything past the blaring noise echoing from the TV I left on all night. Through the slits of my eyes I stare confusedly at the empty space where the door used to be. I'm trying to figure out what happened to the door while I was sleeping when I see the covers move out of the corner of my eye.
