We were all laughing around the mess hall table. I wasn't used to this many people so I kept rather quite except for my laugh every once in awhile. I was hold a cute little baby. The baby, Judith, is ricks daughter her mother passed away a few weeks ago which I can't even begin to imagine growing up without my dad. Rick said they're were a few others, his boy, an older man and a couple of others including some newer members to the group.
Hershel was telling us a story about a time when Maggie and Beth were kids but was interrupted by a loud creak and slam of a door. We all stoped silent as a few men walked in throwing a bag on the table.
"Where's the rest of you" Rick said to say before he was cut of by a green duffle bag being thrown onto the table. I looked over in shock finding staring back at me was a pair of blue eyes.
"Who's this" he growled out before pointing at me and turning to Rick.
Rick let out a sigh rubbing his face before turning to the boy."This,Carl, is Arlo Jackson. She's new to the group and-"
"Yea whatever" Carl said before stomping of to who knows where. His brown hair under his sherif hat flowed behind him. He was cute. I'll admit that. But he's a dick.
"I'm sorry about that" Rick turned to me. I'd say he's not normally like that but sadly after his mother he has". He fixed his shirt and walked over to me to grab Judith. "Here. I'll show you to your cell" Rick said nodding to the side. I followed down yet another long hallway, this time going the other way.
We walked the long narrow corridors. They were damp and cold. The only sound was my heavy breathing still tired from my past days of traveling. Rick occasionally looked back making sure i was still following and Judith occasionally smiled at me, which I returned.
"Here we are" Rick said pulling back a dirty sheet which was probably at one point white. I stepped in and took it in. A small desk. A set of bunk beds. And a small bookshelf with three books.
I was happy. This was nice being here for awhile. I don't know how long though, I still want to find my dad. I turned and smiled at Rick. "Thank you so much, you don't understand how much I appreciate it".
He just grinned and let out a chuckle. I scrunched up my nose in concussion. "What's so funny"? I questioned Rick. He just took a long look at me before shaking his head and rubbing his beard.
"It's just, your hair is...interesting" I reached behind my shoulder to the once silver color which was now brown and red from the blood, dirt ,and sweat. "No no. Everyone's hair is dirty" Rick added making me look up from my hair and dropping it. "Your hair. Brown looks better" Rick smiled at me. I was about to responded when another voice joined in.
"That's debatable" Carl scoffed from the corner. Unbeknown to us he was standing there his arms crossed and balanced with weight on one leg. He rolled his eyes and fixed his posture once he realized Rick and I were staring. "But either way, what is SHE doing her" he said sneering.
I shifted uncomfortable not knowing what to do.
"Carl. Watch your mouth. Arlo is a guest here"
He scrunched his face in disgust before walking out and mumbling "what kind of name is that" I grimaced before hollering.
"It's better then Carl" I smirked to myself before turning to a chuckling Rick.
"Well goodnight Arlo. In the morning we'll get you better settled in. "
"Night Rick" I said before kicking my boots off and jumping in the bed and falling asleep.
