The next morning I awoke with a new understanding of the type of person Connor was. He was a lot more outgoing, hilarious, and caring than I had originally thought but I wasn't complaining. However being the shy, sarcastic person I am I was slightly worried. The only thing giving me hope was the fact my Grandma Patty used to always say "Opposites Attract", which I truly believed since my grandma was a patient, kind, polite, godly women all her life. Well and Grandpa Patrick, he was a chain smoking, rude, blunt asshole and had a mouth like a sailor. I looked up at the frame Connor was drawn to, while lying on the sofa thinking about if I should text him or wait for him to make the effort. Something told me to make a move, let him know that I wanted to spend time with him, but I didn't want to get hurt. I looked up at the picture of a Ferris wheel I took a week before I left Indiana, it was apart of a broken, rundown kiddie amusement park that used to be open in the Summers. It was my favorite photo of mine, you could truly feel the age of the ride in the picture and just by looking at it, I felt like I was six again riding it with my older brother, screaming when we reached the top.
I was brought back to reality by my phone blaring a text notification song. It was from Connor, "Want to come over tonight?" I thought long and hard about this, part of me was nervous now that I had all this new knowledge about not only Connor but his entire circle of friends. But a small part of my heart wanted to let him in. Before I could respond another text popped up on the screen "Nobody else will be here, I don't want to be bored lol" Without a second thought I replied "What time?" "6?" "See you then" Maybe it was time for me to let someone in.
