My stomach turned knots while walking out of Melanie Jacobs office. I couldn't believe that I had just turned in a writing sample that could make or break me for this intern job offer. But it was out of my hands now. I headed down the street putting my ear buds in and listening to the beat of One Directions One Thing as I was walked. I hadn't spoken to Connor since I left his house Sunday morning, one whole day. This wasn't strange for us but considering what we did Saturday night I had thought that I would get at least a text. Marching up the stairs to my apartment to the beat, I felt a finger jab me in the side. I jumped almost falling backward, but feeling a firm hand grip on my back, I turned around to see Connors worried face. Regaining my balance and removing my ear buds just in time to here him start to apologize.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't know about the buds! I kept wondering why you didn't respond to my shouts!" He said wide eyed.
"You're fine! No damage done, what are you doing here?" smiling as I spoke.
"Well I thought I would drop by and see what you were up to, the guys and I have a meeting up the street in about an hour and I had some time to kill," he laughed.
"C'mon, you should have called we could have grabbed breakfast. Now you're going to have to slum it with cereal like me!"
"Cereal is like my life," Connor said completely serious. I laughed as I opened the door throwing my bag down and heading to the kitchen.
"Coco Puffs or Lucky Charms?"
"Oh this is a tough one do I want to be coocoo or lucky? Decisions, decisions!" Throwing his hands in the air, "ehhhh I'll go with the lepruchan!"
"Coffee or tea?" I asked while pouring two heafty bowls and topping them with milk.
"Girl do you even know me?" Connor shouted. I smiled putting on a pot of coffee. Glancing up I noticed Connor staring at the collage frame once again.
"What are you looking at?"
"I just really like that one," pointing to the Ferris wheel photo that I cherished.
"That's from a shut down amusement park back home. It was the perfect place to spend your Summer as a kid. It closed down when I was about 13. My brother and I would devote about 90% of our lives to that Ferris wheel when they were open." I laughed passing Connor a bowl and a mug of warm coffee. "Even after the shut down we would still sneak in through a hole in the back fence. It's still there, but for some reason the city won't fund it anymore. A shame really,"
"Why doesn't someone fight for it to open again?" Connor spoke through chews."I think alot of people just forgot how much the little things like spending a night at the amusement park mean. No one seemed to care except my brother and I. A few other people but it's just abandoned beauty now," I laughed.
"That's really sad. If something means so much it should be kept safe,"
"Well a little kiddie park like that doesn't exactly draw in the big bucks and isn't quite an interest to any buyers. It sits and waits, one day it will probably be torn down, it's more valuable for it's memories."
"So if you got the money would you buy it?" Connor said looking me dead in the eyes.
I laughed, "I don't know! Maybe, I don't know. I mean what do I know about amusement parks. Besides that's on the other side of the world to me, a different chapter in my story."
"True but I'm sure you would figure it out, you're smarter than you give yourself credit for." Connor said placing his hand on mine. "Plus sometimes in stories there are reoccurring characters, phrases, and even locations. Don't be so sure of yourself." laughing as he took another spoonful of cereal.
