I looked behind me, Kitt and Keaton followed, and I thought, "Where's Richard?". Then I remembered what happened. I teared up again. "Lets hurry up and get out of here. I've had a crazy night" Kitt said. "You and me and him both." I joked. Keaton laughed. We were still in the basement, only a minute or three away from the door of the basement.
I only thought what I was going to tell Richard's parents. "Anyone want a water?" Kitt asked. Keaton said he would and she tossed him a water. He drank half of it and poured the rest on top of his head. "Hot?" I asked him. He nodded. "I am too. Especially from being in that steam room." I answered.
"Well duh captain obvious" Kitt said. I glared at her and she laughed. We finally got through the basement and out it's door. "Not going down there again" Keaton said. "Yeah well I'm not coming here again" I joked. We all chuckled.
Now we're were in the main engine room, giant boilers and machines toward over us. A newspaper floated by us. I ran and grabbed it. "August 15th, 1991. Saint Joseph Hospital plans to shut down In the upcoming year." I read aloud. "That must be this hospital!" Kitt realized.
I continued to read on, "Plans have been made to leave the hospital alone. An outbreak of Cholera left Saint Joseph out of money and workers, forcing the hospital down". "That must be why they abandoned this place." Keaton suggested. "Maybe. Maybe indeed." I said.
We walked into the cafeteria and a terrible smell hit my nose. "What is that smell?!" I moaned. Keaton pointed at a rotting Egg salad. "Of course. Someone wasted their food." Kitt said. I nodded and continued walking. A moan sounded from the right of me. I flicked my flashlight towards the beast. "T-that's the beast?" Keaton said exhausted. A old possum looked towards us and tried to hiss. Only a growl and moan came from the animal.
"It was just a old possum?! The whole time?!" I exclaimed. The possum moaned one last time and walked away. "That was one terrifying beast!" I joked. We all laughed. Finally we reached the surgical center. The front doors wide open. "Its like someone was expecting us to come this way." Kitt suggested. "Maybe it was apart of Richard's plan." I said. "Maybe. Maybe not." Kitt seconded.
As we walked into the night, I tired to forget what happened on that night, but I could never forget. I could never forget Richard.
