I was sitting in my car outside Colton's house, head leaning back on it's rest and 'Another Day in Paradise' by Quinn XCII blasting from the bluetooth radio.

Seeing Colton- finally- rush out of his house backpack lazily thrown over one shoulder, I sat up straight, smirking as I watched the blonde jump into the passenger side of my car, throwing his backpack in the back next to mine.

"Yo, we going to this 'welcome to fall' bonfire tonight? Raph is holding it at his parents beach house, yet again, and apparently they have this sick fire pit out back," he asked, putting his seatbelt on as I pulled out of the driveway.

"Welcome to fall?" I snickered, raising my eyebrows over at Colton. As cool as Raph's parties were- his parents were never at their beach house, and the words 'lock and key' weren't even in their dictionary- that was a cheesy ass name.

"Yeah, I know, Grace came up with it," the blonde replied, sighing and leaning back in his seat as we cruised down the street, making our way to school.

"Man, the dude's whipped," I added, running a hand through my hair and adjusting my sunglasses.

"Like you were with Carter?" Colton teased, earning him a smack on the head.

"Suure, man. A no strings attached relationship with a girl I just only talk to for the snapchat streak or some shit like that? Yeah, I liked her, but we both have the same philosophy when it comes to love: steer clear at all costs."

"You've gotta change your ways someday, man."
"Well, let's just pray that day isn't today."

Spoiler alert: it was.
