My room was transformed. The usual bland, run of the mill teenage boy room with blue walls, brown furniture, and the sparse decoration was now littered with different golden candles and 6 dozen roses, and the crown jewel, those huge gold letter balloons that people post all over instagram and different social media platforms spelling out 'Formal?'

Thank god Mark was back at USC and not home for one of their breaks, because if he saw this, what I did for Violet and how all out I went just to impress her, he would ruin it. I'm not ashamed of how much I care and how hard i'm trying, so him making fun of me really wouldn't do anything, but I am completely, one thousand percent sure that if he was here while I asked Violet to formal, he would do something that would fuck all of my carefully laid out plans up.

Even though we were dating, and it was sort of just implied that we would go together in the first place, I wanted to do something nice for her. She deserved it. She goes through a lot of shit at home, with her Dad working a lot, and the feelings of unwantedness she got after her Mom fought hard for her brothers in the custody battle and not for her.

There was also the shit she got for just dating me, which never really went away, no matter how long it had been that we had been dating. Everyone still seemed to think she was just another one of my 'victims,' that I would fuck and throw away after I got bored. There was even a rumor that I was waiting to take her virginity, and then I'd dump her in some huge fashion and humiliate her.

What no one gossiped about, the truth: I've already tapped that ass, and I have no intentions of quitting it anytime soon.

So, to make up for the shit she got for being with me, and just to make her feel good and wanted like she deserved to, I decided to go all out when asking her to formal. Not cheesy, like some of the promposal shit that's on instagram, but elegant, and nice.

I knew that Violet loved gold- hence the gold clutch I got her for our one month, her frequent gold eyeshadow, different pieces of jewelry colored gold, and all the gold accents that are around her room. I had gone to a shit ton of different stores- H&M, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond, and west elm - and bought a huge variety of candles, the number totaling in the 60s and 70s. I had scattered them throughout my room, on the floor and different surfaces, all lit, with the lights off. It was probably a fire hazard, but fuck it.

The 6 dozen - 72 - roses I had bought from a local florist was probably overkill, but again - fuck it. The majority of them, 4 dozen, were red, of course, the ones that symbolized love and shit, and then a dozen in a pale pink hue, and the last dozen were lilac. 3 of the 4 dozen red, the pink, and lilac roses were strewn across my bed, and then the last 12 red roses were together in a bouquet just for her to have.

Thanks to an alarm system in my house, I was able to hear the door ring up in my room, going down the stairs as quickly as possible before making it to the front door.

I opened the door swiftly, greeting Violet with a quick "Hi," and a soft kiss on the lips.

Once we pulled apart, standing in an embrace in the middle of my foyer after the door closed behind her, she replied with, "What's up, babe? Why'd you want me to come over? Not that you need a particular reason, but, you know."
"I actually do have a reason - a surprise - for you. Just come upstairs with me, and i'll tell you when to close your eyes, okay?" I instructed, taking her hand in mine and leading her up the stairs.

I pulled her up with me, ignoring her pleas to know what was going on or what the hell I was doing, only stopping when I reached the top of the stairs. to put my hands over her eyes.

Before Violet could protest, I went, "Uh-uh-uh- just trust me, okay babe? I promise you'll love it,"

"Fine," she sighed, sticking out her tongue before following my guidance, steering her right into my candlelit room.

"Keep your eyes closed, just for a tiny bit, more okay?" I instructed, slowly taking my hands off of her eyes and bringing myself to stand in front of her, right by the balloons grabbing the bouquet of roses.

"Open," I finally sang, watching her slowly open those beautiful blue eyes, and look around the room, a look of utter awe and wonder written across her face. A hand went to her mouth, and she turned towards me, giving me my own signature once over, her eyeing the bouquet before her gaze wandered over to the balloons.

"So, Violet Adina Lyon, would you do me the honor of going to spring formal with me?"

Her response is needless to say, considering I had a girl in my arms not a split second later, falling onto the bed as my face was peppered with kisses.
