"God, junior year sucks," I complained to Colton, who was spinning around in my desk chair while I sat on my bed.

"Only 'cause you're already taking 4 AP classes and the rest as Honors, dipshit," he replied, cokcing his head with a larger-than life smile stuck on his face.

I threw one of my pillows at him. "Little fucker."
In the middle of his laugh, his phone lit up, probably either from that Astrid girl- Carter's friend- we met on Nantucket or another one of the many girl whose pants he was trying to get into.

"Woah, dude, it's already like 9. Grace told me the party was starting at 8, so everyone probably got there a half hour ago, so it's about time we roll in," Colton exclaimed, shortening words and using slang at every possible moment, like the dumbass he is.

"Okay, c'mon," I breathed, hopping of from my bed, grabbing my phone, and taking one quick check in the mirror and running a hand through my quiff, taking my car keys off the table, running after Colton. He may be a dumbass, but the shit's fast.

"You know you can't go anywhere without me, so there's no point in running ahead, right?!" I screamed down the hallway at Colton, who's blond head was popping up and down, socks sliding on the expensive-ass carpet that my mom insisted on buying.

"Well, I mean, you're house is bigger than the fucking grocery store, so it'll take me like 5 minutes to get down anyway, might as well get a workout in while i'm at it!" Colton yelled back, whooping as he hopped down the first flight of stairs two at a time.

It wasn't long before he fell on his ass like he always does, since the stairs were marble and and he always forgot to take his socks off.

"You're a dumbass Colton!" I yelled down the stairs, hopping down each one at a time behind him.

Rolling my eyes as I walked behind the tiny dude all the way out to my family's much too unnecessarily long driveway, him rapidly pulling on the handle of my car door because I hadn't unlocked it yet.

"Chill man, gimme a second to unlock it."

The ride to Raph's beach house wasn't long at all; maybe 15 minutes with traffic, give or take. When I pulled in, cars were scattered along the driveway and outside the house- it was amazing that none of the neighbor's ever called the police on the parties- they were insane.

I opened the door, jumping out of my car and locking it behind me as Luke ran up to the door, knocking a couple times before it opened, revealing Raphael with a lazy arm thrown over Grace.

"Hey Luke, Parker! Glad you guys could come!" Grace exclaimed, smiling big. Raph just smiled at us, close-lipped, and gave the two of us a nod. I don't know how the two ended up with each other, but they were yin and yang, black and white, backwards and forwards. They worked well together.

Not like i'd ever find anything like that.

"Thanks," I replied, and the two of us walked into the party, full of sweaty, half-drunk teenagers in different stages of flirting, making out, and dry-humping eachother.

"I'm gonna go get a beer. Want one?" Luke asked, walking away.

"Yeah, sure. Take your time though," I replied, spotting a girl in the corner of the room. I recognized her from AP HUGE, but all I knew was that her last name was something that sounded vaguely french. But she was pretty, no doubt about. Long brown hair with blondish/light highlights with cerulean-esque eyes and a short, black dress that hugged her curves and flowed out at the waist.

To put it short, a total babe.

She was standing alone in the corner, silently sipping on a red solo cup, presumably full of wine or some other sort of alcohol.

So I walked up to her.

"Hey, we don't know each other, but i'm Parker Waide. We take Human Geography together," I introduced, smiling over at her.

"Violet. Lyon," she replied, smiling up at me. "Yeah, we do. And, I know who you are. I mean, you're the most popular guy in the school."

"Don't flatter me," I chuckled, forming a half-side smile. "Raph is pretty up there too. And John. He's not bad," that earned a laugh from her.

"Debatable," she replied, her laugh interrupted by Luke running back over and shoving a beer into my hands.

"Hey! I'm Luke. I'm Parker's best friend," he began, holding out his hand. Looking overwhelmed - and a little confused - she shook it, glancing over at me with a small smile.

"OH! There's Alice! Nice meeting you..." he stopped, looking back while running away.

"Violet," she replied, looking up at me while watching him wave goodbye and run over to yet another one of his conquests- to put it nicely.

"He's - interesting," Violet pondered, looking over at Luke, who had made his way over to Alice and was starting to flirt the best he could.

"That's a nice way to put it, I guess," I deadpanned, smiling with a little bit of a smirk thrown in. This girl seemed okay. Not like a lot i've ever met, i'll say that for sure.

"You find it weird this party's being thrown on a Thursday? I know i'm not from around here, but that doesn't seem too normal to me. We do have school tomorrow," she wondered, taking a sip of her drink.

"It is weird, but Grace does this a lot. She and Raph have been together for a lil' more than a year, and if the party has a cheesy-ass name or isn't on Friday or the weekend, you can bet it was her," I explained, nodding my head over at the pair.

I got a laugh.

"I noticed that you sat alone in HUGE. What's up with that?" I asked, seeing her internally wince, giving me the realization I probably hit a fresh wound.

"Uh, well, since 'm new, and no one knows me, no one really wanted to sit with me, I guess," she replied, blatantly trying to cover up any strong feelings she had about the subject matter.

"That sucks. How about sitting together tomorrow," I casually proposed, shooting her a genuine smile.

"I'd like that."
