I nearly knocked Audrey to the ground when I ran up to her room and hugged her. "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked. Audrey gave me a smile and hugged me. "It was your first night back. We all agreed that we weren't gonna get on the internet or anything." Audrey told me.
I sighed. "Alright. I'm staying with Emma tonight so I'll see you at school tomorrow."

I knocked on the door to Emma's and was greeted by Maggie. "Hi, Dakota!" Maggie hugged me so tight I thought my eyes would pop out of my head.
"How have you been? Did they get it all this time?" Maggie asked. "Yeah they think so." I told Maggie with a smile.
Emma led me up to her room and I sat down on the bed with her. "How are you Dakota, really?" Emma asked. I shrugged. "They said they got it all last time but it came back. I'm scared and I feel like crap." I told Emma who hugged me.
"I'm sure it's gone. Okay well how are you and Jake doing?" Emma asked. I frowned. "We had a kind of fight tonight. It was stupid and I regret it but I just don't have the guts to talk to him yet." I told Emma.

I walked beside Emma into the school. The school I haven't set foot in in forever.
I froze and Emma watched me worried. "Dakota? What's wrong?" Emma asked, holding my arm. "I swear I just seen someone I knew from Atlanta." I whispered walking toward him.
Sure enough I was right.
"Stavo." I said. He turned around and looked at me wide eyed. "D- Dakota?" Stavo said, hugging me. "Oh my God. I came to see you at the hospital and you weren't there. I about had a freak out because I thought you were dead."
I smiled and kissed Stavo when I seen Jake watching us. Stavo didn't object, just returned the kisses.
"I missed you so much." Stavo whispered. I smiled, resting my forehead against his. "I missed you too. I gotta go but I'll see you later." I followed Emma who had been watching us with a smile.
"Wow. Turning into Brooke aren't ya?" Emma asked me as we walked to our first class, Miss Lang.
"I met him in Atlanta. He was really nice and understanding of the whole cancer stuff. He came and seen me everyday, was there after every surgery, and even came before school." I told Emma.
Emma smiled. "Kieran's cousin is moving to Lakewood. He's really cute." Emma told me. "Oh my God. Shut up. I'm technically still with Jake." I said. "Well just giving you some ideas in case."
We walked in and sat down, looking up at Miss Lang. She was really young. She was probably not even 30 yet.
"Hey, Dakota." Brooke greeted me. I looked around for Jake. "Jake ditching?" I asked. Brooke nodded. "I think you gave him a realization check." Brooke said. I frowned. "Hey. Don't worry about it. He'll get over it." Emma said before we started first period.

I got home and texted Jake.
Jake I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. The only reason I kissed that guy in the hall was because I wanted to mess with you. I'm not the kind of girl that you can just not talk to. I get sad. I can't just turn it off because it is that way. I try to be happy but Jake you're what makes me happy. Please Jake forgive me.
I love you....
I lay down on my bed and started crying. I needed Jake to be here. I missed him. I was both happy and sad at the same time. He was what made me happy.
I looked over at my window as Jake slid it up. "Dakota," Jake started but I didn't give him a chance to finish. I ran over and kissed him. "I'm sorry, Jake. I love you. I love you so much."
That didn't happen. Nothing ever happens like I want it to...
