Audrey grabs my arm as I try to make it up the hill, feeling dizzy from walking for so long. I lean on Audrey as I try to catch my breath.
"Em, we need to stop. She needs to rest." Audrey says. Emma gives a nod and looks around.
"Can you go a little farther, Kota? There's a gas station up ahead we can get you something to drink to help." Emma says. I give a nod and stand back up where Audrey keeps her arms around me in case I'm to fall.
We get up to the gas station and I sit down instantly in a chair, Audrey sitting next to me as Emma goes to grab a bottle of water, paying for it and handing it to me. I take a drink and then try to relax.
The phone at the counter rings and I jump, Audrey putting her hand against my head to try and calm me down. The guy at the counter answers the phone and looks at us.
"This is going to sound weird but are any of you Emma?" Audrey and Emma look at each other then Emma grabs the phone. I'm not sure what's said from there because I zone out but I feel Audrey help me up and I lean on her again.
We hurry out the door and in the direction of Kieran's house, watching for anyone. We crouch down as a cop car drives past.
"Alright, keep watch I'll be right back." Emma says, standing up and going inside. I sit on the ground next to Audrey.
"How do you feel?" She asks, looking at me. I shrug, raising my head from my hands.
"Like shit. I just need this all to be over." I tell Audrey. She grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze.
"I know, Kota. It'll be over soon. We'll get this psycho." Audrey says. Emma comes back over to us and I stand up as we walk to the theater.
Audrey grabs her spare key and we go in. We get into the main lobby of the theater and I just let my body go to the floor, Audrey beside me instantly.
"Holy shit, Kota. Just sit here okay? Don't go to sleep on me." Audrey says. She looks at Emma as she grabs a phone, calling Noah I'm assuming.
"Hey Noah, it's Emma." Emma says putting the phone on speaker.
"Emma! You guts are about to hit Ten Most Wanted territory if you guys don't watch out. What happened?" Noah asks.
"It was terrible. Have you talked to Brooke?" She asks, taking a glance down at us.
"She's here." There's shuffling and then you can hear Brooke.
"Hey. I I'm so sorry about your dad. Brooke you have to believe us. We didn't do what they're saying we did. By the time we got there it was too late."
"I know you didn't kill him Emma. You couldn't. Where are you guys?"
"We're at the movie theater."
"We'll be there soon. Does Dakota need anything?" She asks.
Audrey speaks up. "Go to my house. There's a key under the mat on our back porch. Our dad is at work. In the fridge in the kitchen there a black case. You need to bring that." Audrey says. We hear an okay from Brooke and soon they hang up.
Kieran is the first to get there, hugging Emma as soon as he sees her then coming over to me. He picks me up and sets me on the counter.
"How do you feel?" He asks me. I laugh a little.
"That's everyone's favorite question isn't it?" I ask, my voice sounding weak. He gives me a smile.
"Noah and Brooke will be here soon. Hang in there." He says. I give a nod and he puts his jacket on my shoulders.
About twenty minutes later, Noah and Brooke come in, instantly handing the case to Audrey who comes over to me, grabbing one of the shots and injecting it in my stomach. She hugs me and I get down, leaning against the counter.
"Gosh you guys look terrible. Let's get you cleaned up." Brooke says, walking to the bathroom with Emma and Audrey but I stay put.
I hug Noah and he just stands there, holding me while I cry. "Where's Eli?" I ask Kieran.
"He should be here soon." Kieran says. I give a nod and a few minutes later Eli comes in. I run over and hug him, breaking down nearly the second I see him.
He lowers me to the floor when I start to fall and he just sits there with me. "It's okay, Kota. We're gonna get this psycho."
