Benny was waiting for you when you pulled into his driveway. You ran into his open arms and let him hold you as you sat on the porch swing. "It's alright, Cher," he cooed, but he let you cry. You'd just lost one of the best jobs you'd ever had and it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to you, but more importantly, it wasn't fair to that little girl. The little girl you'd grown to love. Between your sobs, you told Benny what happened.
To your surprise, Benny chuckled lowly. "Cher, I'm sure ya both were angry. Go talk to him tomorrow, when yer not so riled up. Cas ain't a bad guy. Just unda a lotta stress." You took a deep breath and nodded. He was right. You often let your temper get the better of you and then, you said things you didn't mean. Maybe Castiel was the same way. "Now, how 'bout I take ya upstairs and get yer mind off things?" he asked you with a cheeky grin. You laughed and let him lead you inside and to his bedroom.
Castiel was up all night, deep in thought. How could he have been stupid? How could he let his ridiculous jealousy make him speak to you that way? He put his head in his hands and sighed. He probably just screwed up any and everything he could have possibly had with you. Not to mention, his relationship with Claire and yours. Claire hadn't spoken to him for the rest of the day. She stayed in her room. And the next morning, she wouldn't even look at him as he drove her to school.
Before Castiel drove away from Claire's school, he sent you a text, asking you to come to the house that evening instead of coming to get your things that morning. He needed to talk to you, to apologize for the things he said. He hadn't meant for you to quit, but he needed to tell you that in person. You sent him a reply, saying that you would meet him around eight so you could see Claire before she went to bed. Castiel smiled to himself. At least you hadn't said no outright.
Eight o'clock came and went and you still hadn't shown up. Castiel bit his lip in worry. You were never late where Claire was concerned. At nine, he sent Claire to bed and contemplated calling you. He picked up his phone to dial your number when it started ringing. Benny. Castiel answered. "Cas, man, I need ta talk ta Y/N." Castiel's brows furrowed as Benny continued, "She ain't answerin' her phone. Figured it died on her."
"Y/N is not here. She hasn't shown up." Castiel could feel a lump forming in his throat. Where were you? "I'll try her again. Give me a call if ya hear from her, would ya?" Castiel agreed and hung up. He was about to try your number for himself when his phone rang yet again. This time, it was a number he didn't recognize.
"This is Professor Novak," he greeted when he answered the call. "Professor Novak? Are you acquainted with a Miss Y/F/N?" The lump grew bigger and Castiel had to clear his throat. "Yes. Y/N w-is my employee." In the next eight words, Castiel's world began crumbling around him...again.
"Professor Novak, I'm afraid there's been an accident." dy>i+
