"Grace! I'm home!" Steve's voice rings through the apartment as the two men walk in. "Brought a friend."
"Since when did you have friends other than me and the team?" I tease from the same spot on the couch where he left me.
"I mean, he seems like a nice guy." The familiar voice of Samuel Wilson reasons as he walks into the living room.
"Oh no." I sigh looking up at him.
"What?" He furrows his eyebrows and plops down on the couch next to Dean. "Not happy to see me?" He frowns.
"No, it's just..." I avert my gaze to Steve who is pulling up the chair next to the bookshelf towards the two of us so he can join. "nevermind." I shake my head and look back at the tv.
"Actually." Steve clears his throat as Sam takes the remote and turns off the tv. "Uh... the reason why I reached out to Sam is because... because uhh."
"Because he's worried about you." Sam finishes his sentence making my head snap his way. "He told me your nightmares have been coming back and you missing the meetings doesn't really help."
"I know." I slouch further into the couch. "It's just... New York and going up to Asgard to visit my brother caused some memories to come back."
"From the war?" Sam pushes.
I purse my lips and look at the two soldiers then distract myself by petting Dean behind the ears.
"No." I admit, Steve's eyebrows shoot up while he's eyes widen.
"From what then?" He questions.
"The Tesseract Dimension."
"I thought you said you didn't remember what happened during those years." Sam says.
"That was the easiest thing to do at the time." I shrug. "Especially with you, Steve." Instead of looking his way, I keep my eyes fixed on the floor.
"What do you mean?" The blonde soldier's voice softly questions.
"I didn't want to scare you off when I just got you back." I admit while raising my head to finally look at him. "I spent seventy years without anyone and you came back and I didn't want to mess it up." Tears start to form in my eyes.
"Nothing you could have done during those years would--"
"Steve." I cut him off and run a hand through my hair. "In Norse Mythology, I'm known as Hela, Hel's daughter."
"I don't know who that is, Gracie." Steve sighs.
"Hel is the goddess of Hellheim. Basically the 'Hell' of the Nine Realms." I explain in a surprisingly calm voice. "I was raised there till I was banished to Midgard where I meet you and Buck."
"But how does that have to do with the seventy years you were gone?"
"I was still identified as 'Hella' when I ran into anyone anywhere I went." I elaborate. "And that led me to go down the wrong path..." I mumble.
"What do you mean?" Sam asks, he knows nothing about this stuff.
"I became, pretty much, a space assassin." I confess, my head dropping again. "I joined these two sisters and this huge purple-magenta colored Hulk lookin' thing assigned me things to... take out."
