MASON POV

I walked down the hall on my way to Mrs Harmony's class to see what part I got in the play. I know, it's a little cliche ! I don't actually like theatre. I'm a championship tennis player. There's a rule here that you have to take an art extra curricular before you take a sport. So I chose musical theatre. I've never sang before, other than in the shower, but Mrs Harmony said I was a "natural".

I kinda hope I got a smaller part so I can focus on other stuff like ... Amanda. Damn she's perfect! Talking to her at lunch was like a dream. I also met Molly and Jay more. I like Molly. She may be a little over the top but she seems ok. She'll probably be the lead. I don't know about Jay. She's pretty but not like Amanda. More in a punk, scary, I'm gonna kick your ass way. Maybe someone around here likes that stuff.

I made a turn down the hall and saw Jay running down the hall as fast as she could. Her uniform skirt was flopping against her legs as she ran towards me. Jay came to an abrupt stop. "We need to talk, now." she said. Quickly she grabbed my wrist and pulled me...hard. Ouch!

"You have a really strong grip!"

"Just follow me before they see us."

"Who?"

"Just go!"

We kept going until we reached a janitors closet. Jay pulled out a key and unlocked the door. She quickly ducked in with me in tow. "What's going on? Is there something wrong?" I asked concerned.

She hesitated, "It's kind of about Amanda."

She suddenly had my full attention, "What is it?"

"Look can you help me keep a secret from her?"

I thought for a second. Girl rule number 1: Don't keep secrets because they'll know. I replied " I don't know how does this affect me?"

Jay looked at me worriedly and continued rambling, "You got the lead in the play and I got Glinda and well... our characters have to kiss. and if Amanda finds out she'll put my head on a stick and..."

"Wait what? We have to kiss... ew."

She gave me a look of disgust.

"Sorry. But what are we gonna do?"

"Your job is to make sure that she never goes to the music room. Meet her after cheerleading and walk her back to our room. Don't let her make any uneccessary detours."

"What are you gonna do?" I asked.

She looked at me dead serious. "I have the harder job. I have to talk to the gossip hub if Carver and make sure she keeps her mouth shut. Even if it means using tape."

"Who would that be?"

"Faith Joseramirez."

"Who's that?"

"She's like Amanda's second in command. Her mom is a teacher so she knows all the teacher rumors going around. Plus she's completely in sync with the entire school. She knows all!"

Just then the door cracked open. A high voice said "See I told you! He does have the hots for her. He even convinced Mrs Harmony to give him the lead so he could kiss her."
