Jay POV
Maybe going into Molly's room wasn't the best experience but she said that I could sing pretty well so why not try out. I mean, I'm already at the bottom of the popularity chart. No one will probably notice.
At lunch that day, I sat with Molly. We talked for about 10 minutes before Ian joined us with... what's his name? Oh yeah! Mason. And upon seeing Mason, Amanda's eyes popped out of their sockets. She ditched her cheerleader friends and sat with us. Social suicide.
We all talked and laughed the whole time. Amanda isn't as annoying as I thought. Mason is actually pretty funny and has a seriously contagious laugh. Don't get me wrong. He's Amanda's. I won't get in the way. But every time I laughed too hard at Mason's jokes she shot me a "back off" look.
Lunch went by fast that day. We all walked to Mrs Junior's room together. When we arrived Harvey, James, and Georgia Rose were all gone. I didn't really like them but it was still kinda weird. No one seemed to know where they were. Most kids seemed pretty concerned asking questions like:
"Are they in the infirmary?"
"Did they drop out?"
"Where did they go?"
As usual, I just sat back and waited for class to end so I could follow Molly to theatre practice.
The bell rang at 3:50 sharp and everyone went to their extra activities. Molly grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door. We tore down the hall like maniacs giggling the whole way. Let me tell you, this is the first time I have ever giggled in my life. It's weird but nice.
Suddenly we arrived at the door to the auditorium. "Here we are. Just go inside and talk to the director." Molly pushed.
I opened the door and quietly stepped in. "Hello I'm here to audition for Glinda."
An older woman turned around. Her glasses were falling off her head and her hair was as Amanda would say "just ew". She called me over and I ran. "What's your name?"asked Ms Harmony.
"Jay. Molly said for me to audition."
"Alright let's get started. Hop up on the stage. How about you sing something you like!"
"Ok."
I cleared my throat and began to sing my favorite song that I wrote. (a/n the song is Tatooed Heart by Ariana Grande but pretend it's Jay's original song)
"You don't need a lot of money,
You don't have to play no games
All I need is that you love me,
To get the blood rushing through my veins,"
I kept singing and by the end Mrs Harmony was clapping. "Sweetie, you have the part. Your voice is just fantastic!"
"Thanks so much!"
I turned away to go back to the dorm when she yelled, "Wait don't forget to practice your scenes with Fiero! They need to be authentic!"
"Ok. Who's playing Fiero?"
"I'm putting the cast list out now. Come and see!"
I slowly walked over and peered at the list that she held up. I saw the name.
"Holy fuck!"
"Young lady! That language is inappropriate for school, do you want a conduct cut?"
"No m'am. I have to go."
I waved goodbye and sulked over to the door. This sucks! I am now required to kiss... Mason.
