"Today is the day." I whispered as I layed on my bed looking at the celine. Today is the Rock Sound Competition at the state fair. I'm one of the contestants, number seven to be exact. The winner gets 1,000 prize money, and to perform a song on Ellen, which can get anyone a career. I quickly got up and went to the bathroom and did my necessities, curled my hair and ran my fingers through it to calm it.

I went back to my room and got dressed, slipping on my shoes. "I'M READY TO BLOW UP THE STAGE!" I yelled running down stairs. "Not after you eat." My dad said putting a plate of sliced fruit on the table. "Thanks dad." I said eating all of it as fast as I can. "Done!" I shot up from my chair and grabbed my bag putting my phone in there. "You know the fair doesn't start for another 20 minutes." My mom said coming into the kitchen giving me my sticker with my number on it that says what contestant I am.

"Really?" I checked my phone to see that she is correct. "Oh... well we should go already anyways too... be in the front of the line and you guys can be in the front row!" My mom rolls her eyes and smiles. "Okay let's go." My dad grabbed his keys and we walked to the car. Well I ran.

"I'm so excited. I have been practicing for weeks!" I said. "What song are you singing?" My dad asked. "Don't be a Fool by Shawn Mendes, didn't I tell you?" I replied. "Probably." He shrugged and I rolled my eyes. Once we finally arrived I was already bouncing in my seat like a hyper child.

We all got out of the car and sped walked to the ticket line. My dad bought us some tickets for games and food, and my mom bought the entree wrist bands. Since opening doesn't start until the next 10 minutes we have to wait outside the gates, apparently singers don't get early entree. Finally they opened the gates and everyone crowded in to get to the best booths. We got to the medium sized stage and I smiled. I will be on that stage.

"Do you want us to go to the back with you?" My mom asked. "No it's okay, just sit here, I'll go and warm up." I replied. "I'll go when you are almost on." She gave me a warm smile and I gave her a thumbs up walking away. The show starts in another 20 minutes so I don't want them to lose a good seats. When I got there I saw a huge tent. I walked in and saw some vanity tables with mirrors, changing rooms, chairs, tables, drinks, stairs leading to the stage, and lots of open space. (A/n: Try to think of Pitch Perfect 2 the final singing scene.)

I saw one boy, a little girl, and another girl. The girl was doing warm uos in one end of the tent and the boy was with the little girl at the other end. "Rebecca go with mom, I have to practice." I heard the boy say as I took a seat a few chairs down from them. "But I want to stay and help." She replied. "I don't need help, oh do you hear that? Mom is calling you." I didn't hear anything, bit I know he tricked her. She ran off and I caught the boy's eyes. I quickly looked away in a panic but looked back to see him still staring. "Uh...Hi." I said with a small smile. He quickly snapped out of it and smiled back. "Hey" He replied getting out of his seat and sitting next to me. "I'm Chaney, number 7." I said. Pointing at the sticker that I stuck on my chest. "Daniel, number 5." He said sticking his hand out. I shook it and smiled. "So, what are you here for the most?" He asked. "Well I love to sing so the chance to sing on TV will be amazing. My dreams would come true." I sighed. "Me too, I always wanted to be a singer." He agreed. "How about we do our warm ups together, I can teach you some of mine, and you teach me yours." He nodded and we turned our chairs to face eachother.

Later

"You're next. Good Luck out there Daniel." I said as we walked up the steps to the stage. "Thanks Chaney." He said giving me a tight hug. I could just feel his nervousness. "Contestent number five." The announcer said. "Go get 'em tiger!" I said and he laughed. He walked out and I stayed where the curtains. "What's your name?" The judge asked. "Daniel Skye." He replied. "What will you be singing today?" What is this XFactor? "It's an original called Maybe." He didn't tell me he writes songs. The judges gave him the 'Go ahead' and he started to sing.
