13: Mermaids are real

I laughed swimming around with my little sister Joanna. She tapped my tail and swam away yelling "Tag your it!" I swam after her and saw her floating in one spot. I slowed down and looked at her confused.

She looked back at me then pointed at the thing she was looking at. It looks like the bottom of a boat. Wait let me rephrase. It is a bottom of a boat. I gasped. What is a boat doing this far in the ocean? My family and I thought we found the perfect spot in all of the ocean ground that no humans would ever find. "Joanna go back to the cave but don't tell mom or dad." I said and she nodded.

"Wait what if they ask about you?" She asked. "Just tell them I went to Jackie's cave for a while." She nodded once again and quickly swam down. I moved to the back of the boat and moved more to the surface. I peeked my head out of the water a little bit but just enough to see everything.

I hesitantly moved a little bit closer to the small boat and stuck my whole head out. Once I heard voices I moved back and went back into the water. "No...you can do this Y/n, just see what they are up too." I reassured myself and went back up.

"But fishing is lame." I heard a guy groan. Fishing?! Oh no...My dad isn't going to be to happy about that. "Oh shut up Daniel, you are just saying that to seem cool but we all know you feel bad for the fish." Someone else said and a quietly laughed. I moved closer to see inside the boat. Both of the guys backs were to me. I looked at the taller guy throwing a fishing line in the water. "Oh my gosh!" I whisper shouted.

The other boy turned to my direction and I sank down but I knew he saw me. I popped back up and he stumbled back a bit then ran back leaning over the railing of the boat. "Are you okay?! Do you need to come up? Are you drowning?" I cringed at the last question. "Do I look like I'm drowning?" I said and he laughed a bit.

"I'm Daniel" He said. How is he so calm? "I'm Y/n" I said. "What are you doing so far into the water? How did you even get here?" He asked looking around probably to find another boat. Either I tell him or I swim away from a cute boy. Did I just call a human boy cute?

"Oh yeah about that..." I said scratching my wet hair. "Daniel who the hell are you- oh" The other guy stopped mid sentence once he saw me. "Michael this is Y/n"

"Uh hi.." He said and I gave him an awkward wave. "Would you like to come up?" Daniel asked. "I have to tell you something first...well show you." I said looking down.

He nodded and I raised my tail above the surface. Micheal fainted falling back and Daniel looked at me with his mouth ajar. "Um.....Do you want to come up? Will you grow legs?" He asked and I laughed.

"This isn't a fairytail Daniel." I giggled. "I don't know what to believe anymore." He said still looking at my tail. "Your tail is beautiful." He complimented. "Thanks!" It was the perfect combination of blue and pink.

"You guys shouldn't be too deep into the ocean." I said. "Why not?" He asked. "Well if my dad sees you he will flip, no one has every came this far which is quite shocking. Plus if he sees me talking to you I'm burned coral." I said and he laughed.

"What?" I asked looking at him confused. "I'm sorry it's just that you said coral, cause you live in the ocean...You wouldn't get it." He said trying to stifle his laughs. I looked at him like he was crazy. "Yeah okay."

"Y/N! Y/N!" I turned to see my sisters head pocking above the water then quickly swam to me. "Who is that?" Daniel whispered. "My sister Joanna." I replied and Micheal started to get up. "Y/N DAD IS COMING!" She yelled.

"OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS NEED TO GO!" I yelled. "GO STALL DAD SO I CAN GET THEM AS FAR AS POSSIBLE!" Joanna nodded and swam back down. "Wait will I see you again?!" Daniel asked and I smiled. "Be at the pier late at night, I don't have clocks to tell time but just go when everyone is gone." He had a huge grin on his face and nodded.

"Damn making plans right in front of me." Micheal said putting a hand over his heart in fake hurt and they started bickering something about "cheating" and "I was always faithful to you."

"Okay guys we don't have all day unless you want your boat to be flipped over and to be dead meat! Go go go!" I said and Micheal ran to start the boat. I swam down and gave it a small push and it went away as fast as it can go. Mermaids have powers to so I basically gave it a super push. I turned and swam to my cave seeing Joanna hugging my dad.

"Hey guys!" I said. "Oh hey Y/n! I just gave dad a lecture on why I love him." She said laughing. Once my dad went back in Joanna gave me a little wink and I laughed.

All I can think of is how my next meeting with Daniel is gonna go!
