CHAPTER 03
That morning, Maggie was startled conscious when her metal door was harshly lobbed open. She instantly shot up, and by childish instinct she flung her pillow forward and hugged it tight. A group of specialized guards marched inside, shoving their guns and weapons at Maggie's direction.
"Put your hands up!" one of them commanded, and Maggie tilted her head curiously. They were dressed head to toe in special equipment, including bulletproof vests and modified helmets. They had batons hanging of their hips, and they used an assortment of polished rifles. Maggie only hugged her pillow tighter.
A ghost of a smile passed her lips. Her eyes looked to the guard stepping closer to her cell, and she immediately accessed his mind. She instantly took over his mechanics, and the guard halted in his steps abruptly. The special force glanced cautiously and curiously at their colleague, and Maggie gave the first order. The guard lifted his gun at Maggie, and his teammates relaxed. However they immediately tensed when he turned around to face his friends.
Bang! Bang! Bang! he started pulling the trigger to his rifle blindly, shooting around rounds of bullets rapidly.
"He's under her influence!" one screamed, and Maggie hopped off her bed and pressed herself against the bars to enjoy the show she successfully orchestrated. She watched in satisfaction as the bullets rained down an other guard, and it killed him. "Shoot him! Shoot him down!" someone demanded, and instantly the whole squad started shooting at the influenced man whilst trying to dodge his bullets. Maggie clicked her tongue in annoyance when a bullet successfully penetrated her puppet's helmet, and his lifeless corpse slammed rigidly against her bars. Ah, well, Maggie thought. Her eyes rose and she searched for the healthiest looking guard. She did her work, and the guard stood stationary. This time I'll make it work.
The cycle repeated. The man turned to his friends and rose his gun, ready to shoot - when suddenly one of the men bravely sprinted over to the cell and jabbed the fingers of a taser on Maggie's skin. She revolted and electricity coursed through her body, and she fell back on her spine. She sighed, and welcomed unconsciousness with open arms.

"Shh," Ringleader hissed as Maggie wriggled in her restraints. Tears of fear streamed down her face, and she howled helplessly. A face poked through the curtains, but they didn't dare intervene. Even with a wide grin, Maggie could see fear etched on their face. 'Help,' Maggie pleaded. 'Please.'
The person disappeared, and Maggie sobbed. The Ringleader glowered at the little girl, and brought his hand up. Maggie wailed in pain and shock when he struck her. "Shh," he repeated, scurrying off and returning with a box. He grinned and flourished it around Maggie's face. It clinked lightly. "You know what's in here, don't you, Maggie?"
Maggie whimpered in response. Ringleader unlatched the box and opened it, showing multiple metal pins inside. Maggie squeaked in fear. "You know what you've done to deserve it, right?"
Maggie shook her head, and Ringleader tsk-ed, feigning disappointment as he set the box down and picked up two pins. "Did you smile through the show?" Ringleader asked in an exaggerated innocent tone. Maggie shook her head. Ringleader grinned, and tugged the sides of Maggie's mouth to form a smile. Maggie panted in fear as Ringleader brought up one pin. "Smile for me, Maggie."
A silent scream rumbled inside Maggie as Ringleader pierced the pins through her skin, pinning the smile in place.

Maggie jolted awake, instantly feeling cold metal contacting her pale skin. Leather straps wrapped around her body and legs, and Maggie panicked and struggled. Pins.... they're going to pin me.
A group of specialized force guards followed behind her, and two stood by her side, wheeling her forward. Maggie wriggled, and flashbacks came to her like a whipstorm. The sides of her mouth burnt and she felt a stabbing sensation. The four punctured holes - two on each side - felt like they were flaring open, like they were fresh wounds.
They stopped suddenly, a people donning labcoats arranged multiple equipment. Maggie gasped and forced a massive grin, ignoring how her scars shrieked. She dreaded pins - even when she had gotten them daily in her days at the circus.
They prepared a syringe and came over to Maggie. They lifted a brow looking at her grin, but paid no mind. Maggie's eyes flared with fear, and she struggled to stretch her grin wider. They lined the needle with her jugular, and shot something into her neck. Maggie screeched inhumanly, and writhed as they wheeled her away. She heard howling laughter as she was wheeled through double doors.
They brought her to a courtyard of some sorts. Special security force trooped around like they owned the place, holding guns. Some were standing by, the points of their weapons aimed at Maggie and their fingers itching the trigger. She felt the tip of a pistol suddenly press against her temple, and her eyes rolled over to view. A guard stood, holding the pistol. Suddenly, fabric covered her sight - she was blindfolded.
"Try anything funny, you die."
Maggie gulped.
