CHAPTER 04

Maggie still couldn't see anything.

She was also still strapped to the board. With her visual abilities currently out of order, she would not be able to create eye contact and launch her telepathic skills. Instead, she directed and relied on her auditorial senses.

The same screeching laugh she heard before exiting boomed and rung in her ears, and soon it faded into a quiet cackle. She could hear faint breathing and growling, sounds of people grunting in an attempt to release themselves - presumably.

The whirring sound of helicopter blades propelling the aviating vehicle rumbled and the engine roared, causing Maggie to shrivel slightly. A gust of the dust blew Maggie's way, and she clamped her mouth shut as to not allow the miniscule bits to invade her tongue.

After a while, she could hear a conversation, but only snippets of murmurs, the sound drowned out by the helicopter blades. The blades stopped, and Maggie could hear a muffled voice: "Are the assholes here?"

Hopefully not me, Maggie mused to herself. The sound of boots trampling the dirt abruptly paused, and the quiet giggles and cackles from the person besides Maggie also halted. Maggie blinked her clear blue eyes behind the fabric.

"Alpha, Bravo team, with me!" the same voice called out.

"What the hell, Flag?" another voice remarked, however this 'Flag' man ignored the comment and said,

"Unlock them!"

The moment they unstrapped Maggie from the restrainsts that secured her, she outstretched her arms to rid of the stiff feeling. She was quite sure she'd accidentally slapped a personnel - they grumbled incoherently, and Maggie found herself not caring at all. A hand gripped her arm tightly, and Maggie winced as they forcefully herded Maggie to God-knows-where.

Two personnel walked over and chucked a writhing bag at the ground, and Maggie merely heard something like a bull's hooves dragging itself across the ground. Flag approached the bag. "What do we got here?"

"Twelve pounds of shit in a ten-pound sack," they informed Flag, and Maggie heard the zipper glaze over and open the sack.

"Welcome to the party, Captain Boomerang."

Grunts echoed, and as clear as ever Maggie could hear the sound of a fist come in contact with a jaw. Whoever the perpetrator was, he was successfully restrained and brought to line up with the rest of the inmates.

"One minute I was playin' Mahjong with me nanna, then this red streak hits me outta nowhere," the perpetrator grumbled. Another replied, "Shut up! You were caught robbing a diamond exchange."
