A knock sounded on his door.
"Hey, wake up if you are asleep. This is very urgent," the disembodied voice outside his door said, the tone of urgency well-evident in his deep, husky voice.
Oh come on. I was having such a nice dream, a life of peace. That is all I, a humble man, ask for.
Larry groggily pushed off the sheets of his bed, and walked up to the hotel door. The person in front of him shocked him with his presence.
"Do you recognize me, my friend?" he said.
"Oh! It's you! What urgent message have you come to convey though? You sounded as if some high ranking person got murdered or something!" Larry said, as he went to the kettle to boil some water for tea.
"That is exactly what happened!" the man said.
Larry jumped up from his seated position. "Are you serious?" The man simply nodded.
"The finance minister and her boyfriend just got murdered yesterday," said the man.
"Excuse me, Jacob? Please don't tell me that this is another of your bluffing jokes. I have had enough of these so far. You are going too far with your voracious appetite for such antics." Larry said.
Jacob remained solemn. He solemnly said that what he said was really true. Larry could not believe what his ears had just heard. The finance minister, of all people? DEAD? How could this be even possible in this world where all ministers were given full protection almost all the time? His mind revisited the word"almost". Yes. Almost. That was it. She and her boyfriend were killed in the time when it was deemed that she did not require the utmost security that the minister usually got. Some really smart killer probably hacked into the finance minister's messages and prepared to kill her.
But could a serial killer even do it on his own?
That was a major question.
"Hey Larry, I think the water has finished boiling," Jacob said, waking Larry up from his previously uninterrupted string of thoughts.
"Ah, yes, how can I be so forgetful?" Larry said. Jacob told him that he would get transportation to the scene as they drank their tea. Larry quickly changed into his coat.
They rushed out of the hotel room. A jet-black matte finished Nissan was waiting for them. This was to attract less attention. The two of them got into the car and soon sped off.
