~ One Week Later~

“Just take a deep breath and remember to smile. You’ll do great.” Mum says while adjusting my cardigan.

“Okay” I manage to choke out while trying to control my breathing and remain conscious.

“Harry Styles, they’re ready for you,” Dermot tells me while giving me a mic.

I turn to my mum in panic. She senses my distress and gives me a tight hug.

“You’re going to do great, they’re going to love you.” I nod and pull away from her before turning towards the stairs leading to the stage.

Here goes nothing.

Once I come out from behind the curtain, I hear a few cheers so I widen my smile and wave to the audience.

“Hello, what is your name?” Simon Cowell asks me once I stand at the marked spot.

“I’m harry styles” I say, hoping that was good enough. Should I have added my age too?

“Okay, what will you be singing?” Louis Walsh asks, distracting me from my momentary panic.

“‘Isn’t she lovely’ by Stevie wonder”

“Good luck” Simon says and the music starts.

Once I hear my cue to start I open my mouth and repeat what I’ve been practicing for months. I feel myself getting less nervous as I reach the end of the song. When I finish the last note I take a deep breath and look out to the crowd. Some girls are cheering and I hear clapping, which is good.

Nicole Scherzinger, the guest judge, is the first one to speak. “You have a beautiful voice”

I thank her and turn to look at Louis who is frowning slightly. “You are very talented but I think you are a little too young for the competition and I’m afraid you don’t have enough experience” loud boos can be heard from the audience so I smile and let out a soft boo myself which makes simon laugh.

“Some one from the audience said rubish, and i agree with them.” Simon surprises me and I can’t help but laugh from relief.

“Should we vote then?” Nicole asks while turning to the other. I feel the knot forming in my stomach again and I hold my breath.

“It’s a yes from me” she smiles and I sigh in relief.

“For all the right reasons, no” Louis says and my breathing stops.

Suddenly, the air is filled with tension and it feels like hours before Simon opens his mouth.

“And it’s a yes from me”

I find myself jumping and I quickly yell a thank you before running offstage to join my mum and her fiancé, robin. Once I run down the stairs my mum catches me in a bone crushing hug and robin pats me on the back. Some producers gives my mum details about when I’m supposed to be back for the next stage in the competition while I try to let it all sink in.

I’ve been accepted in the x factor auditions. This is actually happening.

After signing the proper paperwork I head out of the building with my mum and Robin, imagining how my life would be if I actually won the x factor.
