“Wait here and your judge will be revealed soon.” A member of the X factor crew tells us when we arrive at the house. It’s pretty big and luxurious, not that I’m surprised really.
“Simon’s going to be our mentor, I’m sure of it.” Niall says.
“Nah, it’s going to be Cheryl. She was looking at us in a suspicious way.” Louis retorted.
“But look at this house, it’s huge.”
They continue bickering about it until they agree to wait and see. I look over at the other groups and they all seem to be just as anxious as I am, which makes me relax a bit. Just a bit.
A few moments later, a member of the crew tells us that our mentor is ready to see us so we stand expectedly until a person walks through the double doors and it’s none other than Mr. Simon Cowell.
“Hello, I’m going to be your mentor this season.” He says calmly, as if it’s not a big deal.
All I hear is “I told you Louis!” screamed by Niall before we all run up to Simon and huddle up in a massive group hug.
Once we settle in his huge living room, each group on a couch, we listen intently to all the pointers Simon gives us including the rehearsal schedule and the reminder that we were to perform in front of him and a surprise celebrity guest in three days. This is going to be fun.
Once we’ve been told everything necessary, we head back to the hotel but not before Simon gives us a half-hearted warning not to have too much fun and his signature wink.
Back at the hotel, Liam decides to go work on his tan and Zayn tags along. Niall’s got his guitar and tells us that he’s going to try to seduce the Spanish ladies with his “amazing Spanish skills” and leaves us with a salute.
I take out my laptop and sit on the bed while I wait for it to start up. Louis’ lying next to me, and from what I can see from this angle, he’s texting someone.
“Do you think anyone knows about us going through boot camp?” I ask while logging into Facebook.
“No, I think the auditions are going to air next month.” He says without taking his eyes off his phone screen.
I hum in approval.
As I’m scrolling through my newsfeed Louis gets up and starts putting his flip-flops on. I try to seem nonchalant as I look up at him.
He looks back at me and mumbles, “’m gonna go take a walk on the beach, yeah? I’ll be back in a bit.” He strokes my cheek twice before leaving the room.
I pick up the hotel phone and dial room service. I guess it’s going to be a pizza-and-movies kind of night.
I must’ve dozed off some time after the second movie because I open my eyes to see that the room is dark and the boys are sound asleep in their beds. But what really woke me was the soft boy climbing into the bed before nuzzling my neck.
“I’m sorry I woke you,” he whispers in the dark.
“It’s okay,” I assure him. “Did you have a nice walk?”
“Yeah. I talked to my friends a bit and caught up with everything back home. That’s mainly why I didn’t ask you to come with me; I thought you’d be bored.” The hotel room, fortunately, has a large window so the moonlight creeping in gives the perfect amount of light for me to see that Louis is looking at me with wide, sincere eyes.
“It’s fine. I watched some movies.” I smile at him.
A few moments pass in silence while Louis snuggles closer into my side and tucks his head under my chin. I take that as a sign that he’s done talking so I close my eyes and lift the cover a little higher over us.
