“This is really good, Harry.” Liam’s the first one to speak up. We’re sitting around the campfire the other boys made while Louis and I were preparing dinner. I managed to find four sleeping bags in my mom’s attic. Apparently Robin kept them from when he’d go camping with his friends.
“Thank you, Liam” I mumble through my mouthful. I try to balance the paper plate on my knee while taking another forkful of pasta, it’s the easiest meal I can prepare within thirty minutes and I knew the boys were pretty hungry.
“Why don’t you just hold the plate?” Louis asks from beside me, after seeing how much I’m struggling.
“Because it’s hot” I take hold of the plate for a few seconds before resting it back on my knee.
Louis just rolls his eyes with a smile before turning to face Liam. I think Louis was least friendly with him because of the acute difference in their personalities. Liam’s here to win and is taking everything really seriously, while Louis’ just trying to make the best of our little gathering.
“How about we play a little game after everyone’s done?” Louis looks at Liam while asking that, and from the mischievous glint in his eyes I can tell that he’s trying to provoke the other boy.
The expression on Liam’s face clearly tells us that he would in no way want to participate in any of our stupid games, but before he has the chance to decline, Niall speaks up.
“Yes!” he smiles.
Zayn looks at me worriedly and I shrug, so he turns to Louis with a quiet “I guess.”
Louis turns to me finally, having completely forgotten that he’d asked Liam first, and how am I supposed to say no to him, really?
“Sure” I breathe out and watch him grin widely.
After throwing the dirty paper plates into the fire and getting into the sleeping bags—I had insisted that Louis share with me because mine was the biggest, but really they’re all the same size—Louis finally tells us what game he wants us to play.
“It’s called ‘Never Have I Ever’. Basically, you have to open your hands to show all your fingers and then each one by turn is going to say ‘never have I ever’ and then something we might have done. If you’ve done that thing then you put down a finger. We’ll see who lasts the longest. Oh and one more thing; no lying.” He looks at each one of us. “You’ve got to promise that you’ll be completely honest.”
“Promise” we all say in unison.
“Good. I’ll start. Never have I ever licked someone’s balls” he smirks. Liam starts choking on his soda and niall scoots over to pat his back.
“Uhm, you okay there buddy?” Louis asks but I can tell that he’s not concerned at all.
“Uhm” cough “yeah. Just didn’t” cough “see that coming”
“well?” Louis smirks again looking pointedly at Liam’s spread fingers.
“Oh. Uh no, I’ve never uhm… done that” he says, clearly uncomfortable.
I actually find this amusing, it’s obvious that Louis did that to get a reaction. As I look around at the boys I notice that we all still have our hands fully open. We’ve all moved to lie down on our stomachs in the sleeping bags, our elbows supporting our weight.
“Hmm I see that no one here’s into those kind of stuff. Okay.” Louis says.
I shift a little so Louis and I are now practically glued together from our shoulders down. He doesn’t seem to notice, so I’m surprised when he lifts his arm and wraps it over my shoulder, bringing me even closer to him.
