Chapter 3.

"Oh my goodness are you alright?!!!" I exclaimed.

"I'm ok just a few scratches are you ok?!" She also exclaimed.

"Yea I'm..." I couldn't continue because I began to burst out in laughter. Tears began to roll down my cheeks from laughing too hard and soon after the other girl Braganza to burst with laughter.

We contained ourselves but we looked at each other and began to laugh once again.

When we actually contained our laughter the other girl began to apologize

"Listen I am super sorry that was all my fault!"

"Oh my goodness it's totally fine! You don't need to apologize I wasn't paying attention."

"Neither was I!" She added

" well I'm Maya! It was nice meeting you!" I laughed reaching out to shake her hand.

She stood up and grabbed my hand yanking me to my feet.

"Nice meeting you! I'm Malia."

We decided to skate together. Her on her penny board and my on my longboard. We talked and introduced ourselves. We instantly clicked. I know that we are going to be best friends!

We ended up splitting way because she had to go get her suitcase from the airport and I was in desperate need of food.

I skated along the boardwalk looking for a cheap place to eat and I found a little pizzeria called Joe's pizza. I walked in and ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and a sweet tea. When I got my food I went to sit down and saw a familiar face sitting in one of the booths.

"Malakai!" I shouted as I walked up to him.

"Maya! Sit. Tell me about college so far." He answered in an equally loud voice.

"So far so good! Have you hit the waves yet?!" I asked

"Nope I'm going to after I'm done eating." He answered.

"Sounds like fun!" I replied taking a bite of my pizza.

"It will be... you know what you should come!" He suggested.

"Really? You wouldn't mind? Because that sounds really fun and I need to work on my tan anyway." I giggled.

"Sure. Why not?"

We continued to eat and talk. I really liked Kai. He told me all of his friends call him Kai so that's what I'm calling him now. Finally we finished eating and we headed towards the beach which was just across the street. I carried my longboard and Kai carried his surf board. We arrived at the beach and I kicked off my shoes. I stripped down to my bikini and headed towards the water.

My first day in California and I was already in love.

I hit Kai up on his offer for surf lessons, and I was a quick learner. After about 20 failed attempts I finally caught a wave. It was thrilling I loved it. We stayed at the beach for about 3 hours. It was now 5 o'clock. I got out of the water and put my hair into two Dutch braids. I put my clothes and shoes back on and sat down in the sand. I said goodbye to Kai and skated back to the University.

Once I stepped in my room I saw that the other half of the dorm was decorated. I guess my roommate found her side! She must be in the bathroom I thought to myself. I grabbed my pajamas; and by pajamas I mean an old t-shirt and some spandex. I knocked on the door and heard a muffled voice call out.

"I'll be out in a sec!" She yelled.

"Ok that's fine!" I yelled back.

I sat on a bean bag chair that was sitting in the middle of the floor. Must've been hers. After about 5 minutes I heard the bathroom door click open.

"Sorry it took so long!" She said

I got up to take a look at her and was super surprised to see Malia standing there.

"Malia!" I shrieked in excitement.

"Maya!" She shrieked back.

We talked for an hour or so about how awesome it was that we were roommates then I headed towards the bathroom. I took my shower slipped on my pajamas and re-braided my hair so it would be waver the next day. I headed towards the kitchen where I saw Malia filling up a glass with water. I also got a glass and we sat at the small table over to the side. We talked for what seemed like a few minutes but turned out to be a few hours. It was now 2:37 am. And I was drifting off on the floor. Yes I ended up on the floor! Because of a laughing fit I couldn't sit upright so I fell out of my chair. Malia took a video and put it on her story with the caption "these are the kind of friends I have😂" I returned the favor and took a video of her snort laughing. But anyway we decided to call it a night and went to sleep. My first day in California was a success. Nice car, hot guy, awesome roommate/potential bestie. I love California. And with that I drifted off.

The next morning

Malia woke me up that morning and we decided to go get some coffee and shop for stuff for the dorm. We both got an iced coffee from stoked (a small coffee shop) and bought things we needed for the dorm. We got a rug, food, cleaning supplies, etc... It was a pretty fun day and we got back around 12 ish. Just in time for lunch. I decided to make a salad and Malia and I split it. I still had $200 left in my bank account and was seriously thinking about buying a surf board with it. Actually surfing sounds like fun right now.

" wanna go surfing?" I asked Malia.

" yes but I can't because I have to finish reading a book for one of my classes." She answered rolling her eyes.

" that sucks, I think I might head to the beach. "

"Alrighty girl have fun!"

I slipped on my favorite whit bikini and put on some shorts and a hoodie over it. I grabbed my longboard and headed out the door.

I arrived at the beach in 10 minutes. It was the same place Kai and I were surfing the other day. Speaking of Kai I think I might text him. After all he is the one with the surf board.

Me: Hey this is Maya! Just wanted to know if you felt like meeting me at the beach?

Malakai🙈🏄🏽: Im down! Where at?😁

Me: Same place as yesterday!☺️

Malakai🙈🏄🏽: sure thing, be there in 5.

I looked down at my phone and smiled. I don't know why but I have major butterflies rn. I really like Kai. Maybe I like him more than just friends?
