Into the Unknown

Chapter 5, Part I: Origin

"Long ago 2 meteors struck Earth." Lira waved her hand through the air and a hologram-like mirage appeared in the air. It showed two meteors, one white, one black, flying towards Earth,"The white meteor hit the north side of the Earth, the black meteor struck on the opposite side in the south." The mirage showed the meteors hitting opposite sides of the Earth. "The first was imbued with pure white energy, the other imbued with pitch black aura. Their magnetic force was so great, it made the Earth spin. Now, the points where these two meteors have hit are known as the North and South Poles. Back then two great explorers, a woman and a man, traveled to these two meteors." The screen split to show two people, the first an African-man sailing over the Arctic Ocean, the other a European-looking woman walking through a snowstorm. "When they arrived they were imbued with the meteors' power. The man who traveled to the South became the First Dark Master, while the woman who traveled North became the First Light Lord. They hid their powers from the world until a century later..." The screen showed thousands of black and white meteors flying towards Earth, "a shower of meteors, the same kind as before, befell the Earth. "To stop this, the two adventurers used their powers to save the Earth." The image changed to show the Light Lord smashing the meteors with huge ice spears and colossal wooden giants. The Dark Master was shooting hails of thunder, fire, and earth up at the meteors. "But to their surprise when they destroyed one meteor it split into six different colored meteors." The hologram showed the white meteors splitting into dark blue, light blue, yellow, green, maroon, and pink meteors while the black meteors split into light gray, dark gray, red, brown, orange, and reflective meteors." Even with their powers there were only two of them, stopping all the meteors would pose to be impossible, not without risking their lives. But they were prepared for that too." The screen changed again, the woman was over a bed. In the bed was her daughter asleep, the woman leaned down and kissed her daughter's head and the girl glowed bright with white light energy.

As the woman was about to walk out of the room her daughter spoke, "Mommy?"

"Everything will be okay honey," said the woman, her eyes shined pink, "just go back to sleep." Her daughter slumped on the bed. "Everything will be okay." A tear rolled down her cheek as she opened the window and flew up north into the night.

The image changed to show the man he walked into his house and greeted his wife sitting on a wooden rocking chair. "How is he?" he asked her in an African accent.

His wife looked down at her stomach. "He's fine, he's fine. What's wrong? You look troubled." The pregnant wife asked.

"Nothing, nothing. It's just work. It's... stressful."

"Work, work, work. Is that all you think of? You should care for your family more." said the wife.

"Oh, my dear Nala, I care for you more than anything else in the world. Now I must go, my work needs me."

"See!? Work! It's always w-" Nala slumped in the chair.

"I'm sorry Nala." he lifted his palm and a black ball appeared above it. He blew on the ball and it disintegrated into black mist and went into Nala. Her stomach glowed black. "It's almost time are you ready?" he turned around, in front of him was a mirage looking screen. In the screen was the woman, the light lord.

"Ready when you are." she said. The mirage switched perspectives to show the man in the screen.

"Good, get in position." The mirage zoomed out to show the woman standing on a rock, a meteor. The perspective switched again to show the man on another meteor. "Okay, now." He took a deep breath and his whole body began to grow pitch black, he lashed out his arms and black waves of energy burst out from him. The woman glowed a bright white, she lashed out her arms, bursting into white waves of energy. The mirage zoomed out to show the Earth being engulfed with the black and white waves, surrounding the Earth with a black and white barrier. Turning all meteors that hit the barrier into rainbow dust. The mirage changed to show the woman, her light was dimming. "Come on Mary, keep it together." said the man.

The view switched. "Shut up Mohamed, you're not looking so hot yourself" Mohamed's energy was also getting weaker. The two knew what they had to do, they kneeled down and touched the meteors. Magical energy swirled around their arms giving them more power. With one last burst the two yelled out and they shined even brighter than before. The screen zoomed out again to show the black and white barrier bursting, destroying all the black and white meteors in space. After they split into six, the Earth shot out billions of spears, light and dark, that hit the meteors and turned them into dust. The dust fell on Earth and it's residents, making them glow in different colors. The screen disappeared and the group felt like it had been a century, even though the whole transaction had only been less than an hour.

"Unfortunately their last stand took their lives, but they didn't plan for magic to end there." said Lira. "They had imbued their children with their magic, creating the next Dark Master and Light Lord and them the next generation, and them the next, and so on. But there was a prophecy. A prophecy that tells one day, a Light Lord will fall in love with a Dark Master, and the two will create the next generation of Light Lords and Dark Masters. But this generation wouldn't be like any other, they will have the potential to rival even the originals. Of course, power this great can be chosen to save the world, but it could also be used to destroy it. Now, the prophecy has been fulfilled. The last Dark Master, my ex-husband, Merrick, plans to rid this world of all life. He believes the human race has diverged from the Chosen path that the Originals wanted for them. Luckily I have hid the current Light Lord far away, it should be impossible for Merrick to find her. As for the current the Dark Master..."

"That would be me right?" said Caleb. Everybody looked at him except Lira who looked straight down. "What? It's not like I'm a bad guy now that I'm the Dark Master right?" he asked.

Lira lit up,"Right!" she said. "So if you kids wanna learn how to use magic then we should visit a few friends of mine. Clarence, while we are out you should teach Caleb to use fire magic."

"Roger that." said Clarence. He stood up and opened up a room to the side he waved Caleb over. "Come." Caleb stood up warily and walked into the room with Clarence.

"While they're doing that, we can visit my friends" said Lira.

"Who are these friends anyways?" asked Sarah.

"I guess you can say they're experts in their fields." replied Lira. She walked up the stairs and gestured for them to follow.

"Here we go again," started Vincent, he held up his fist.

"Into the unknown." finished Sarah, she gave him a fist bump and they followed Lira upstairs.
