Into the Unknown

Chapter 3, Part I: A Little More Than Hypothermia

"Yeah, let's get out of here" said Vincent, then his vision became a blur and he blacked out.

"Vincent!" cried Sarah. She rushed to his side.

"Looks like he used up all his mana." said Harvey, he looked up at the wall of ice his son had made to protect him, "Thanks a bunch boyo. I reckoned I was a goner. C'mon, let's go to Laura's."

"You mean my mom? What does she have to do with all of this?" asked Sarah.

"A lot more than you'd think lass." replied Harvey. He held out his palm in front of him and slowly lifted it up. In response a water platform formed underneath the group and slowly rose up through the crevice.

When they reached the surface Sarah immediately got a hold of her surroundings. "It looks like we're still in the neighborhood. Wait a minute, this is where the mansion used to be!" she looked around at the empty lot where the house used to stand. "Hmm, how unusual. But I guess it's no less unusual than an invisible couch." Then Sarah noticed that the sun was up. "OHHHHHHHH NOOOOO!!! It's morning already?! My mom must be worried sick!"

Vincent started to grow cold in Harvey's hands. "Oh no, he's freezing up! Quick lass, show us to your house." said Harvey with the utmost tone of urgency.

Sarah looked at Vincent, who was turning pale. "Oh my god! Is he going hypothermic?!"

"It's a little more than hypothermia lass, we need to get to your mum's house, now.

"Right."By the time they got to Sarah's house Vincent was at least ten degrees below zero and was almost as white as snow. Sarah ran up to the door and rang the doorbell, a woman who looked like she was in her 20's opened the door.

"Sarah!!! Where have you been? We've been worried sick!" said Laura.

"Mom, there's no time to lose! You've got to help Vincent!"

"Vincent? You're old childhood friend? What's wrong with hi-" Laura looked past Sarah and stopped her sentence short when she saw Vincent. Her expression turned deathly serious. "Get him inside."
