I'll never forget the moment I learned you moved away. I'll never forget the look on Mom's face. Hard and impassive. Her eyes were set with something odd.
Resolve, almost.
It's for the better, she told me. Just trust me, she said. At the time, I'd wanted to scream at her, because she had no idea what I was feeling.
But her words ... why in the world would I ever trust her?
Unless she knows something. Unless she's hiding something from me.
