Chapter 13! Woohoo!

I decided to continue it because of the one's who said yes on the last chapter, even though they were only, like, three. And because I was absolutely bored.

Sorry for the misspellings, I only proofread half of it. And I'm sorry if the action not that good, but I hope you like it!

Please tell me what you think. I really appreciate feedback on my chapters.

This chapter is dedicated to midnightsun6 for the awesome banner-->

and for being a good reader that followed Zander's story for this long.

Who would’ve thought I’d wake up in a comfy bed after falling into a trap?

It was evening when I came to. The room was dark but a fire outside gave illumination through an open window, which was always open since it was only a square hole on the wall.

The hut I was in was spacious; it was about double the size of the room I stayed in in the Edeis’ home. Weapons lined one wall, from knives to axes, slingshots to crossbows. The air smelt of cooking meat that made my stomach grumble.

I stood up from the bed, a little wobbly, and slowly made my way to the door. Quiet conversations rang outside but stopped short with shh’s when I reached the door.

I turned the knob and pulled the door, welcoming a chilly night air. Five figures circled a fire, looking at me. I froze where I stood, unsure if the people in front of me had bad intentions. The thought of my friends tortured and bound crossed my mind and I snapped out of my reverie.

“Ah, the bum is awake,” a familiar voice said.

I squinted at the figures in front of me, but the only thing I could see were their silhouettes caused by the fire brightly burning at the center.

One of them, a girl, neared me and handed me a coat. Because of the cold night, I accepted the coat and looked at her for a few moments, trying to see who she was. A smile of relief crept into my face. She pulled me to the others and immediately I recognized the faces of my friends.

Donnest, Tamora and Royage sat around the flame. They wore fresh set of clothes, cloaks hugged close to their bodies. Royage was probably the one who called me a bum. A man around his thirties sat with them, red hair topping his head and a kind expression on his face.

“Greetings,” the man stood up and bowed, “I apologize for the injuries I’ve caused. It seemed that instead of catching wild beasts, I caught children.” He chuckled.

I bowed back and smiled at him, “It’s okay, it’s not like you meant to.” I winced when I brought me head back. I ran my hand on the back of my neck and felt a lump there, causing me to wince again.

“Let me take care of that,” he said. He put his hand on the back of my neck and immediately, the lump disappeared. He was probably a Guari.

”I do apologize,” he said again like the lump changed my mind about forgiving him.

“Like I said, It was okay. You didn’t mean it”

He laughed and turned to my friends, “Can you tell me now?”

I frown formed on my forehead, ”Tell him what?” I asked them.

“Earlier, he asked us the reason behind our traveling from Songive, but we decided to tell him when you wake up,” Tamora piped up, smiling at me.

“Valan,” Afetil turned to the man,”Would you please leave us for a brief discussion?”

“Of course,” he headed for the door of the hut but before he opened the door, he turned to us, “But remember, I am not the enemy. I just wish to help.” Then he entered the hut, closing the door behind him.
