Avi's eyes slowly drifted open to see blinding white walls. He turned over in the uncomfortable bed and in the sheets that felt like prickling pine needles. He felt tears brimming my eyes as he remembered what happened. Avi couldn't bare hearing his voice bounce around in his head about to break his skull. He closed his eyes just as he heard a clacking of shoes enter the cold room he was in. To make it worse the sheets were paper thin.

"Hello! I'm your nurse, Jen. You'll be staying here for about two weeks." She said nicely. "Do you have any questions. I'll give you all the information I can." Avi shook his head and sat up using one of his hands to help me.

"No, I'm good." Avi told her. She smiled and looked down at her clipboard.

"Visting will start in about an hour." She walked out of the room. Avi fell down, his arm weak. Avi felt the pulling pain on his skin of the burns he had, and his stab wound was worse than before. But it did have a thicker wrap around it, and what had to be a cooling gel. He felt like instead of being burned on the outside, he was slowly being roasted from the inside out, about to have his insides fall apart.

Avi tried to ignore as he began to sleep. Being in a hospital felt so vivid, but blurry at the same time. He hated being in a hospital because he felt so helpless and weak. But at the time he just wanted to go to bed. And when he woke up, that's where he was.

He wasn't in the cold hospital bed, he wasn't on the cold concrete floor. He was in a soft warm bed with Scott looking down at him admiring his features. Avi took in a sharp breath, only to have his lower abdomen sting in pain. Scott smiled at him wearily.

"You finally woke up. Just rest baby. I'll go get your parents." Scott said as he got out of bed. Avi whimpered. Just before Scott left the room he whispered,

"Call me baby again." Scott looked back at Avi with surprise in his eyes. Scott quickly turned his expression into pure lust.

"Baby." Scott swayed out of the room licking his lips. Avi smiled and played with his sweater sleeves. He hoped that Scott was the one that changed him into the new clothes. Of course, Avi was ecstatic when he saw his parents walk in along with his sister Esther.

"Oh my God honey. I was so worried." Avi's mom said as she rushed over to his left side. Avi's mom pressed her soft lips up against Avi's forehead.

"Oh my dear, Avriel. I am so thankful you are okay." Avi's dad smiled gratefully as he hugged his beloved son. Avi hugged him back and grabbed his mom's hand. Esther looked at Avi from the other side of the hospital room with her hand over her mouth while sobbing quietly.

"East? Are you okay?" Avi asked as he looked over at his older sister. Esther nodded. Avi's dad cleared a space for Esther and Esther immediately filled the space. Avi let go of his mom's caring grip and hugged Esther.

"I love you so much Avi. Please don't leave me."

"I won't East. I won't." Avi assured his older sister with tears flowing freely out of his eyes. Avi jumped back from Esther's embrace when he heard the door swing open. It was a doctor dressed in white from head to toe.

"You're the Kaplan family, right?" The doctor asked. They all nodded and looked at him worried. "Okay. Just call me Dr. Olusola." Avi smiled a bit.

"What a coincidence." Esther smiled so Dr. Olusola couldn't hear it.

"Is something wrong, doctor?" Avi's dad asked. The doctor looked down at his clipboard wearily.

"We were running some tests and found something that may be crucial to Avriel's health. We're leaning to doing more tests, but not without your permission." Avi began to shake. He told himself it was nothing. But he knew it could be something.

"Well, wha-what did you find?" Avi's mom asked standing up. Avi's dad walked over to her and wrapped his arm around her waist. Esther grabbed Avi's shoulder.

"We don't want to make any assumption, but we found Avriel's body can't fight off a certain bacteria, that could possibly lead to cancer." Dr. Olusola stated. The whole room went quiet, like the word stopped right where it was for this exact moment in time and space. Avi felt fear burning inside him.

"Would you like to run the tests. It is highly recommended." Dr. Olusola said. Esther looked at Avi, who was now on the verge of tears. Not happy tears, tears full of anger and fear.

"Y-yes." Esther said simply her voice choked up. Dr. Olusola nodded and walked out of the room, Everyone looked at Avi as Avi began to shake.

"Scott. I want Scott." Avi whimpered.

"I don't know how Scott will react to this my dearest Av." Avi's dad told Avi with silent tears streaming down his face. Avi's mom dug her hands in her hands and fell down to her knees.

"Mom!" Esther screamed. She ran over to her mother and grabbed her hand.

"G-get A-A-Avi Sc-o-ott." Avi's mom cried out. Avi hid himself under the covers. He pretended his a a little boy again. He pretended none of this was happening. He pretended when he was at school, people didn't make of him. He pretended he was happy- even though he has been doing it for a while.
