It may come off as rushed because I didn't have much time to type it out, sorry.
Two: ruffles on my butt...
~~~~Kaycee's P.o.v.~~~~
My brother and Shane escorted me out of the school and off the premises, making sure to steer me clear of Rider, at all costs. Despite my assurances that I could, indeed, walk to the car myself without causing any more trouble. They knew me too well so Shane kept an arm draped over my shoulders, barely keeping Jace from dragging me across the parking lot.
I may not mean to cause trouble, my brother had complained when they'd pulled me from the locker rooms, but I always seemed to find it. He had a point, a very good one in fact, but being treated like a child that couldn't walk on their own two feet was extremely irritating. Not to mention embarrassing.
“I cannotbelieve you did that, do you know how stupid that was, Kaycee? Rider is not a person you want to piss with. Especially not the way you have been lately.” He wasn't shouting, Jace never shouted, but the look on his face was enough to restrain me from mouthing off. Out loud.
I may be “delicate”, as my mother likes to say, but I do know how to take care of myself. I grew up in a house that's always filled with teenage werewolves for God's sake. I'm not exactly stupid. I know how to stop before things go too far and things have definitely not reached that point, yet. I don't exactly know what the point of no return is, preferably after I get Rider to spill the beans, but I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later.
“Calm down, man. Its not like Rider was going to hurt her. He's not that desperate to be rid of her, yet.” Shane grinned down at me, obviously thinking he was helping the situation, and he opened the back door of my brother's car for me. “Hey!” He complained when I elbow my way around him and get into the front seat. “Brat. And here I was gonna help you get Rider.” He clucks his tongue in a way I've seen my mother do a thousand different times when my brother and I are annoying her. Which is often.
My brother groans, banging his head against the steering wheel. The loud “honk” makes Shane and I both jump in our seats. “Do not encourage her.” He warns Shane before giving me a pitying glance. “He's not worth your time, Kace.”
“He's my mate.” Hearing anyone, even my brother, say that Rider wasn't worth my time pissed me off. But I kept my wolf contained, ignoring her as she clawed at the barriers I'd built in my mind. She was already giving me a migraine but starting a fight with Jace right now wouldn't help things.
The only one that would help me with what I've got planned is Shane. If I can get him alone long enough to talk him into it.
Jace shakes his head, weary lines creasing his face. “You must be wrong, Kace, your wolf must be wrong. Rider is no one's mate.” Something about the look on his face made me believe there was more to the story than he was letting on, but I knew better than to think I could ever get the information I wanted out of him.
Now Shane, on the other hand...
“No, no, no, no, no. I know that look, Jace make her stop with that look. Its scaring me.” Shane put a hand over his eyes, cowering like a baby in the backseat. “Jace...”
“Kaycee, stop scaring Shane. You know he throws up when he's scare-” Jace paused, quirking one eyebrow at me. “You don;t want to have to clean that up, do you?”
I pout, but turn back around in my seat. I honestly hadn't even noticed that I'd turned around to face Shane in the first place. But, he did have good reason to be afraid of what I was thinking. We could, after all, get into some serious trouble, if we get caught that is.
