Photography lesson went so fast I didn't even realize that the rest of my class had left the classroom. I soon headed to the darkroom to develop some photos and to do some experiments on double exposures.
I don't know if Jake is going to turn up today but if he did I already had a script in my head of what I was going to say to him. I was going to give him a thousand apologies, that's if he shows up. After all, I did ditch him yesterday, but It wasn't my fault.
My head started stinging out of nowhere so I quickly went to the toilet. On my way, I overheard arguing from ahead. I peeked round the corner and like I did a few days ago I watch Dylan have a go at someone.
"I can talk for myself, I don't for anyone else whether they do or don't want me to. If you continue to say such vile things to that girl in class, I promise you that you won't like what I will do," Dylan sounded so angry, I've never seen him like this before, I doubt anyone has.
So that I wouldn't be seen snooping I just walked round the corner normally. Without making eye contact I crept into the toilets. Starring in the mirror I saw some blood dripping down my head. The wound must have split after I put cream on it yesterday. I hissed as I placed some tissue onto it. I finished up and dashed out of the toilets bumping into someone on the way.
"Looks nasty," a voice said. I glanced up at who I bumped into, Dylan. I mentally rolled my eyes as he steadies me. I brushed his hand off my shoulder.
"How did that happen?" He questioned as he pointed to my head. I looked to my feet with embarrassment, I couldn't tell him how it happened. No one would believe me anyway.
"Did the girls in class do this to you?" Dylan sounded more angry than worried, he has a short temper.
"No, I just fell over yesterday. Is that a crime?" I said as I started walking away. He pulled on my arm, I looked down at his hand, he removed it instantly as if my skin burned him.
"I found this the other day, I thought you would want it," Dylan mumbled as he handed me a piece of paper. I unwrapped it, I scowled at the paper before ripping it up.
"Why would I want that back? It's lies," I spat at Dylan, as I held in tears, he knows nothing about me.
"I didn't mean to upset you, I just didn't know what to do with it," Dylan sounded genuine. I gave him a half smile before heading to the photography room. I checked my surroundings before entering the dark room.
As I entered the photography room I slammed the door in anger. Why would Dylan keep that stupid piece of paper and then think that I wanted it back? I understand that he didn't know what to do with it, but he could have simply thrown it away.
In anger, I rip the photo I had developed. I let out a small scream as I ripped more work up. I held onto my hair but let go as soon as I made my cut sting, I hissed as I touched it gently.
The door slammed which made me jump, a small yelp emerged from my lips. I couldn't see who had walked in except a silhouette. Whoever it was, wasn't speaking. They know I'm in here, they would have heard me yelling.
"Hello?"
Silence.
"Jake?"
Silence again.
"Okay, whoever you are if you're not going to talk then that's fine. Just don't think you can use any of my stuff or ask for anything because everyone does and it gets so frustrating," I sigh as I rush through my mini-speech.
"So I'm frustrating? I've been called many things but not frustrating," I knew it was Jake. He added a small laugh at the end of his sentence which made me smile. Jake was my only friend, could I even class him that? It's not like we've actually hung out with one another, I don't even know what he looks like. Well, I have a rough idea, even though it is dark I can see the length of his hair and it makes it easier for me to narrow down which Jake it is in my year.
"Why didn't you answer me the first time?" I grumbled as I picked up the torn pages.
"I didn't feel like it. Like someone didn't feel like replying to me" Jake was really digging at me. He doesn't know my reason for not replying but I can't tell him the truth.
"Look, I'm sorry that I didn't reply, my phone sort of fell out of the window and I know that sounds really stupid but it did honestly." I was probably coming across like a right old idiot, I'm just hoping he wouldn't push it even further.
"It's alright I believe you. But if I found out you were just ignoring me I might just have to punish you," Jake said in a serious tone, it threw me off completely so I stepped back slowly.
"You should have seen your face, I'm kidding," Jake laughed. Thank god he was messing with me. Hold on how could he see my face?
"How did you see my face Jake, it's dark in here so I'm pretty sure you didn't see the priceless reaction you were looking for."
"Come again?" Bless him, he sounded so confused.
"Never mind. I really am sorry, I would have used my step sisters phone but..." I was stopped as I remembered what Vivianne had done to me because she thought I took Lucy's phone.
"But?" Jake said bringing me back. He was now playing around with the lighting on the projector.
"Never mind. Did you get much done yesterday without your glamorous assistant?" I joked.
"I did just great without you thanks," he said sarcastically.
A few minutes went pass with us being in silence whilst working. I quickly grabbed his application form from my bag and handed it to him. He thanked me and got back to developing his photos. I watched him as he developed a photo.
Jake was pulling his photo out of the water when I crept behind him, studying the work he had done.
"Oh no, that's not right. The lighting is too harsh and you need to leave it exposed a little longer," I said as I grabbed his work and placed it in the bin. I could sense him frowning at me. If I'm supposed to be helping him I need to make sure I'm doing it correctly, letting him develop a rubbish photo would mean I'm doing a bad job as his teacher. Me being a teacher sounds hilarious.
Jake didn't ask anymore and just watched as I showed him how to do it. He then copied my method and placed the photo into the first part of the developing stage. We waited for it to be completed. Once it was, I pulled it out of the water explaining why it looked a lot better. Jake agreed with me of course and then hurried back to developing more.
Another hour or so went by, I don't know how long exactly as I didn't have my phone to check the time. I had said bye to Jake and was leaving when I tried opening the door it wouldn't budge.
