Cleo's POV
Everyone in the class was whispering things to me after I walked into class late. Vivianne had left me in the cupboard of hell all night and when she finally let me out, I had already missed photography's lesson.
I was surprised when Dylan had followed me to see if I was alright. Whoever this girl was must be special, she managed to change him. He does seem different, he's not as self-centered and cocky anymore. Let's hope everything works out between the two because if it goes downhill I'm sure he will go back to his old self.
I headed to photography, I couldn't wait to see Jake. I like him, it seems childish to say like or fancy but there's no other way to describe it. He understands me and listens when I let my feelings out.
I run into the dark room, standing in the corner was someone I couldn't recognize.
"Hello?" I whispered.
"Freak." I knew that voice too well.
"What do you want?" I spat. I've had enough with her minions in class and know she's here, the place I go to when I'm angry or sad.
"Just checking you're keeping up with my work. I want it done for tomorrow, it's got to be handed in at the end of the day." She crept towards me, I could see her eyes sending daggers at me.
"Okay, whatever it will get done," I just wanted her out of here.
"I see you've been coming here every day for the last few weeks, whys that?" Seriously she was asking why I stayed after classes?
"Because I have exam work to complete," I said bluntly.
"It's because of a guy isn't it?" Where did she get this from? It can't have been... wait I bet the twins mentioned something. The witch thought I was I messaging a boy so they must have put two and two together.
"I knew it. Who is he and why is he talking to you?" She questioned as she grabbed my wrist, I yanked it out of her clutch.
"I don't think it matters to you, who and why he is talking to me. I think you're just jealous that a guy doesn't want to talk to you for once," I said venomously. I've had enough of her crap.
She screamed through clenched teeth. She was heading out of the door when she spoke, "I will find out who this guy is and when I do, I'll make sure he doesn't talk to you ever again. Freak!" And with that, she was out.
Could she really do that right? Jake wouldn't listen to her, would he? He isn't like that. No, don't listen to her she's just trying to get to you. I shake off the thoughts when Jake comes walking in.
"Hey," he says cheerfully.
"What's up with the happiness Jake? Had too many sweets and now you're on a roller coaster that's only going up?" I chuckle as he walks closer to me.
"It would only be going up if you were on it with me," he said cheekily. It was slightly cheesy but I don't mind. The guy I like was flirting with me, that's if you could call it flirting. I could feel my cheeks turning red.
"I've decided that I'm going to talk to my dad tomorrow. He is coming home after work so I'm going to try talking to him," Jake said excitingly. It was good he could try and mend things with his dad.
We both then started developing some photos.
We stopped when he randomly pulled me to the side. What was he doing?
"Will you tell me your name? I'm in agony, I want to know," Jake whispers as he places my hands on either side of my hips. His body was pressed against mine as our faces were inches apart.
"If I do, will you tell me what course you're doing?" I stutter as I realize how intimate this position was.
"Of course," he chuckles.
"Okay, well... it's Cleo," I mumble.
"What was that I didn't quite hear you," he giggles. I push him to the side because he did hear me, he is just messing with me.
"That's a nice name for a nice girl," he whispers as he pulls on my hand. I look down at our hands, the touch of his skin was sending sparks through my entire body.
"It's your turn," I whisper as he pulls me close to his chest. He leans his head on mine.
"Football." Is all he says. I try thinking if there's a Jake on the football team. I don't really know anyone except Dylan that plays for the team.
"So you know Dylan?" I mutter. His posture shifts slightly. What was up with him?
"What's wrong?" I say as I pull away.
"Nothing. Yeah, I know the guy, he can be a jerk right?"
"I suppose but deep down I know he is a big softy. Every guy is I guess, it's just a matter of who they let in to see that side of them," I giggle slightly. Dylan may be a jerk but he proved himself earlier when he said that he is changing which means he must care somewhere deep down.
Jake laughs which turns into a coughing fit.
"I suppose so," he mutters as he hugs me tightly. I could get used to this many hugs.
It was soon time for me to go home, I needed to finish off Jenna's work. It takes me around two hours to do Jenna's work and then I get on with the cleaning. I grab something to eat before heading to my room. Jake and I messaged one another saying goodnight before I fell asleep.
•••
I woke up with a rather big grin. I skip down the stairs and then run to the letterbox and scramble through all of the mail. As soon as I see one with my name on it I open it.
The loudest scream I could make could be heard for miles. I had been excepted into Dales art academy. I couldn't believe it, I was finally getting out of this hell hole.
After having some breakfast I practically ran to college, without making the twins or the witch breakfast.
I message Jake to meet me before college starts. As soon as he enters the darkroom I run up and give him a huge hug.
"I was accepted!" I yell with joy.
"That's great news. I knew you could do it," he said cheerfully.
"All we need to do now is see if you're accepted. Even though you don't take photography you should still be excepted, your works amazing," I say excitingly. Jake twirls me around as we laugh before setting me down.
"Cleo..."
"Hmm," I reply as Jake pulls me in for a hug.
"I know this is going to sound crazy and I know we have only known each other for a few weeks but I think...argh I can't say it," Jake said as he started getting frustrated with himself.
He was glaring into my eyes one minute and the next his lips were on mine. At first, I just stood there frozen and just as he was about to pull away I kissed him back. I couldn't resist him, the kiss was sweet and passionate. I haven't kissed anyone in a long time and I certainly haven't kissed anyone like this before. The kiss was innocent and was magical, it set off a chain of butterfly's in my stomach. It felt right. We eventually pulled apart.
"I like you too," is all I could say. We were out of breath after the kiss we had just shared.
"Meet as usual?" Jake said quickly with a huge grin.
"Of course," I say before skipping out of the dark room. I think we're finally going to see one another for the first time. And now that I know he likes me, I have no doubt that he would run away.
