I unfolded the note anxiously while justin cleaned up the car. it had very sloppy handwriting so I figured it was from a guy. it read:
Man, I don't think I can do this anymore. We would be in so much trouble, plus you can't out Courtney through this. Think this over a little more.
What did that mean? Justin has a lot of explaining to do. First he has a shattered window and doesn't have a very good explanation, now this letter that I don't who it's from. But I was snooping so I'm not sure if I should mention it to him. He said he was done with everything and wanted to start over, but now I'm starting to rethink that he actually meant that. I put the note back in the console and grabbed the tissues. I was waiting for him to finish cleaning up while i got on my phone. I had a text from my dad that said he wanted me home now.
"of course, he always tries to piss me off." I said under my breath.
"what babe?" justin asked as he threw the glass into a cardboard box he found in the parking garage.
"my dad says he wants me home now." I told him.
"okay I'm almost done here, then I'll get you home." he said as he finished up. A few minutes later he entered the car and started it up.
"Should we go to the repair place first so you actually have a window?" I said as I buckled my seat belt.
"nah, I don't want your dad to hate me more than he already does." justin said.
"baby, we're almost out of school. 5 more months. then we'll move far away from here." I said as I interlaced his free hand with mind.
"You can't runaway from your family." justin said.
"Wanna bet?" I said. He stared at me for a second and then we both started laughing. god his laugh is contagious. he drove me to my house and I left.
"I'll call you later baby." I said as I gathered my stuff.
"okay, I love you." "love you too." and with that I went to the door with all the bags from the mall.
"I don't like you hanging around with that boy!" my dad shouted. "And what's with all these bags?"
"Dad, he took me christmas shopping. And you better get used to it because he's not going anywhere anytime soon." I snapped back.
"young lady you lose the attitude. And where were you last night?" he asked.
"I stayed at Camryn's house, okay?" I said as I ran up the stairs with my bags.
He makes me so mad, I can't wait until I can move out.
I put my new clothes away and texted Camryn: "Hey wanna come over and stay the night, I need a girls night right now." she responded back and said she would and she would bring my favorite candy and Christmas movies. Everybody needs a bestfriend like her.
Couple hours later I called justin.
"hey sweetheart." he answered, I could tell her was eating.
"hey babe what are you doing?" I asked.
"just eating some pizza with my mom, wanna come join?" he asked.
"actually cam's coming over tonight." I said with a disappointed tone.
"oh, that's alright. you need some girl time." he said.
"thank you for everything today babe." i told him.
"no problem, I love you to things like that with you." he said.
I could hear pattie in the back saying something.
"mom says hey." he said. "hey pattie!" I said back.
"okay, well camryn's on her way, so I better go!" I said.
"okay baby, love you." he said.
"love you more, bye." and then I hung up and ran downstairs to greet camryn.
"hey!" I said excited.
"what's up?" she said as she walked in with her stuff.
"Hi Mr. Hammond." she said to my dad.
"oh hey cam, I didn't know you were coming over. you want me to order pizza for y'all?" my dad asked.
"no." I answered in an irritated tone. we both went upstairs and collapsed on the bed.
"what's with you and your dad?" cam asked.
"Justin again." I said.
"always." she answered.
"but today something really strange happened." I said as I opened a bag of sour patch kids.
"what?" she asked.
"so today justin took me to the mall to shop, but when we came back out to his car his window was shattered." I explained.
"what the hell happened?!" she asked.
"he said he owed someone some money but he didn't go into detail." I said.
"but that's not it." I said.
"what else?" she asked.
"I was looking for some tissues in his car and found a note." I said.
"And what did it say?" she asked concerned.
"That he didn't want to do something anymore and that it would hurt me if he did." I told.
"who was it from?" she asked.
"I don't know, that's what I'm trying to figure out." I said as I popped a sour patch in my mouth.
"you need to talk to him about this." cam told me.
"I know, I'm going to." I told her. I flipped over and stuck 'Polar Express,' in. But I couldn't stop thinking about the note.
