The body of my brother crumbled, falling to the floor. I did nothing.
His body now simply a shadow cast across the oaken ground. I did nothing.
The king twisted around to look at me, his hair was ruffled by the wind and his one blue eye reflected the light of the full moon. He shouted. I did nothing.
King: You have failed me again! I put trust in you and I feel as if you are deliberately deceiving me!
Another flash of blue light streaked the room as I shut my eyes from the brightness, I heard a crack as a jungle tree broke. As I re opened my eyes
I took a quick glance to look down at my brother, his pure white curly hair lay strewn across his face his absolute black skin set back drastically from the brown of the wood.
I looked back towards the king still doing nothing.
The king shook his head angrily his one blue eye narrowed better to look at me through the light of the moon.
King: DO YOU NOT SPEAK!? What is your excuse you insufferable fool?
I spoke now, my deep voice seeming to echo through the surrounding sea air.
Me: We were befuddled, there was no choice but to turn back. We simply lost them.
My brother and myself had been sent on a mission from his majesty to find and attempt to uproot the "upprorisk" the rebellion group fighting against his majesties rule. But we had failed once again, just as we had done before.
The king looked furiously down at me I attempted to keep my face as cool as possible despite the charge of the King's power already surging through my body.
King: I have punished you, bribed you, blessed you, cursed you, and still you are incapable of capturing the leader of a band of indigenous and simple minded people. I am disappointed in you Throneblood.
I did nothing ... waiting to either be excused like I had been before ... or to be killed.
The Light of the silver moon seemed to never go down as the silent minutes waded on. I barely dared to breathe for fear of interrupting the royal's thoughts.
King: Throneblood, another mistake like this and you are done. I know the people look up to you as chief guard and as ... other things ... but blunders like this are simply inexcusable. Do you understand.
Me: Of course Your Majesty.
I bowed deep to the ground on one knee. And waited.
King: You must understand my anger ... these people ... they must be stopped.
His sentence trailed off as I sensed that he was no longer talking to me but to himself. I picked up the limp body of my brother with one arm and quietly left the king to his own thoughts.
We walked silently through the tall jungle trees, I could hear the lap of the ocean waves slapping the beach and the whisper of the wind lick the trees. The island seemed for one moment completely at peace.
With the cover of darkness quickly fading I pushed apart large bushes with the arm not holding my fallen brother. He had been struck to the heart with a powerful blow of the King's magic ... if you could call it that.
His inky black skin was set back with silver tattoos that reached from the top of his hip to his foot. His white hair still seemed to reflect the light from above.
Finally I pulled back another brach as I descended beneath the island. The temperature dropped as we went lower and lower down the stone steps.
We entered a large underground cavern peppered with makeshift houses and supplies. The only light was from that of lightning bugs and the light of the people's glowing eyes. We were greeted by the worried exclaims of many people as we stepped across the threshold of the underground base of the upprorisk.
A Young women with Yellow-green hair tied up in a knot came and took my brother from me a worried look on her face.
Neon: Is he alive?
Me: Yes but only just, he needs medical attention straight away.
I spoke with the authority that suited me, a girl with pale white blue hair and glowing eyes came up and hugged me around the waist.
Me: Zerenity it is becoming riskier to go to the mainland. The king gets even more aggravated as we speak ... I worry for the safety of my brethren.
I hugged her back as she put her hand to my face.
Zerenity: you are so brave ...
I tucked my hand into hers and walked forward turning from side to side to look at what I considered my family. My people all with the purest of black skins stared up at me ... expecting something from their leader. I walked towards my house despairing.
I could only befuddle the king for so much longer... soon he would realize that I myself was the person he so deeply desired to be caught. He may not be the truest of kings but he wasn't dumb.
With sudden realized determination I twisted around to look back at my people.
Me: KaiJyang!
I yelled in our language for a meeting and my people gathered, there was about 20 of us in whole each with different colored tattoos hair and eyes but each with the familiar skin color.
Me: I think it is time to do what we have threatened to do for a long time! Our simple deeds of destroying equipment or stealing plans is not enough anymore! It is time to go big.
There was a mumbling from the crowd at these words.
Me: We have all sensed the rise in power! And I believe the time has come!
Veiltorc spoke up from the back of the room
Veiltorc: For what exactly! What else can we do Throneblood?
I paused almost for dramatic effect.
Me: For the counterparts.
