Eclipse: Chapter 2: Weapons

Jay Pov-

Me: Hey, psst! Cole!

Cole rolled over moaning.

Cole: ugh... what...

Cole didnt seem like he was completely awake but I asked him anyway.

Me: d-do you think Jaylyn and I could... just kinda... settle down after all this... I mean... we kinda jumped into this and.. I would like to take her on some dates. But right now that doesn't seem possible. Would you guys be okay if I kinda just... retired I guess you could say. Sounds like I'm old or something...

Cole: oh- yeah yeah... sounds good... Jay...

Me: really?

I didn't expect that answer. At least some sort of fight like 'no Jay you can't just give it all up like that!' and then I'd follow with a remark about my unbreaking love for Jaylyn.

Cole: oh yeah. That'll be nice... y-you do that..

Me: nice?

Now I was really worried. What was Cole implying?

Cole: yeah you. Just go... the others will... agree...

He rolled onto his other side. Facing away from me. I was silent, hearing Coles relentless snores start up again.

Me: okay... night...

I shut my eyes, trying to fall asleep. I knew I was the 'motormouth'. I knew I could be annoying. But was he really that unwanted?

Zane POV

Jay's and Cole's voices had woken me up as well... It didn't take that much to wake me up nowdays. I waited a moment to see if Jay would fall back asleep but when I could still see his open eyes a few minutes later I spoke.

Me: Jay?

Jay jumped so hard he nearly fell out of his bed. He whispered loudly.

Jay: Zane! You scared me half to death!

There was no sense in my delaying it, if Jay needed help I was to help him. As a good friend.

Me: Jay, if you do love Jaylyn then she is who you should be with.

Jay was silent ... that was a first.

Jay: But would you guys ... I mean what would we do ... I couldn't go on being a ninja anymore...

I hesitated a moment longer ... processing what to say ... and how to say it without giving to much away.

Me: There are some things more important than being a ninja ...

Everything was quite, it was such a long quite that I wondered if Jay had fallen back asleep.

Jay: ... like love ... ?

I paused ...

Me: Yeah Jay ... like love.

I saw Jay smile silently and roll over. I knew the discussion over and fell back asleep myself.

Kai Pov-

I woke up to something jabbing me in the side. I opened my eyes. Squinting at the change of light. I turned over to see Sensei moving around the room, poking everyone with his staff. Which led to a lot of confused mumbling.

Jay: Sensei- what's with the poking?! Don't you just-

Wu led a hardy wack on Jay's head and continued to speak in a whisper.
