Evil,” Jimin says, frowning. He leans forward and rests his elbows on his knees. “Well, I’ll have you know, Taehyung said the next time you come in, try the truffle burger instead.”

As Hoseok straightens up and wipes the beads of sweat that collect at his forehead with the back of his hand, he tries to hide the way the corners of his mouth twitch, threatening to spill an obvious smile that Jimin will easily be able to see through. He thinks that maybe, he’ll visit the burger place later during the week, to see Jimin at work and not because Taehyung worked the same days, different shifts.

Just as Hoseok is about to ask if Jimin worked Fridays, Seokjin walks past them to the crowded pool in all his broad-shouldered glory and stands at the foot of the lifeguard chair to switch shifts with Jeongguk. Hoseok’s mouth goes dry and he turns his head back to the kiddie pool, self-consciously staring down at his own chest and abdomen.

Hoseok throws on a shirt later when it’s his turn to watch. He tells everyone who asks that his skin had gotten sunburnt from the harsh rays of sunshine.

Sunburnt, even on a cloudy day like this.
