Calum's Point of View

Three Years Ago

It was around October that Lane decided to get married to a a ship captain named Patrick. And honestly, I just knew, from the moment I met him, that he was bad news.

Two days before the wedding

Today, Lane decided to finally buy her wedding dress and reception dress.

First, we went to a local store that my mum's friend owns. They had several gowns and dresses but they all looked the same to me.

"Ooh, what about this one, Lane?" Mali, my sister who's four years older then me said excitedly picking up a white dress... was it yellow? Or--wait, no... It's white with a yellow-ish undertone? Whatever.

Lane smiled at her appreciatively then gently shook her head. "It suits you, but I don't think that dress is for me, Mal."

Mali put the dress to her body, frowning. "You're right about the first part but you're kidding, right? Everything suits you! Even a rag would look fabulous on you."

"Why would Lane wear a rag?" I questioned.

"It's a metaphor, Cal." Mali rolled her eyes and put the dress back on the rack.

Two hours later, Lane was trying on ten different dresses. Mali chose most of it. I picked three and Lane got out nothing.

One dress at a time, Lane paraded the dresses to me and Mali. Of course she looked beautiful in all of the dresses but she had picked out two of her favourites.

One was an all-white strapless gown that hugs her curves well. And the other was a black and white dress with straps that were on her arms and it reached to her mid-calf.

It wasn't like I was bragging or anything but she picked that dresses that I chose.

A day before the wedding

A familiar shout woke me up that morning. It was Mali.

"Come on, Cal, you'll miss the best part! Lane and Patrick are separately having parties. You should get reay, it'll start in two hours."

I rubbed my eyes and yawned, still longing sleep even though my body was willing to get up and get ready. "But won't it be held tonight at seven?"

"It's five o'clock."

My eyes shot wide open. "What?! And you didn't wake me? I didn't eat breakfast AND lunch entirely."

Mali put her hand on her hip. "And what? You'd get yourself drowsy at the wedding tomorrow? You know how you get at parties, you get so hyper then you'd run out of energy."

"And letting me unhealthily sleep through my meals was the way to do it?"

"You needed it." Then she left the room.

I got up and got ready before heading down to eat my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

"Woah, slow down there, bud." Lane sat down next to me. "Are you excited for your party with Patrick?"
