Chapter 64

When I make it out to the hallway we're all crying. Mason hugs me and kisses my forehead. I cry into his shoulder.

"We should go.." Ben says

"Alright man." Mason says

I walk to Ben,

"She loved you so much, and I know, that baby would love you so much too." I hug him and he cries harder.

When we get home I go straight to the bedroom and get that picture. I observe it, somebody might think I was waiting for something to happen.

Mason stands in the doorway behind me.

I turn around.

"Do you think Bens going to be okay?" I ask

"No." Mason says

"I actually, I wanted him to move in."

"What?"

"He can't take care of Kayla alone. You know that, and he can't live in the house all by himself. He can live in the bedroom in the basement." Mason sits on the bed

I nod. "I agree"

"Are you okay? Nobody's asked you that lately, you've been our rock." I ask Mason

He looks down.

"Yeah." He breathes "Get some sleep" He kisses my forehead and leaves.

I go the hallway. "Where are you going?" I ask.

He turns "To get Talia." My eyes widen

"You can't go alone"

"Why not?"

I stare into his eyes.

"I'm not going to die" he laughs lightly. "But you can come if you want"

I take his hand and get on my boots and my coat.

When we pull up to his parents' house I decide I should stay in the car, since they hate me.

"Come on," Mason says

"I'll stay here" I say

"No, no no no, you're coming in" He gets out and opens my door.

We walk up to the front door and Mason rings the doorbell.

"Honey! You don't have to ring the doorbell! Youre family!" His mom says to Mason. Then her gaze catches me.

"Oh, hello, Definay is it?" She says

"Um, It's -"

"Mom, really? It's Bethany." Mason cuts me off

Mason walks in and I stand at the door while he gets Talia.

"Sorry about-"

"No it's okay, lots of people get my name wrong" I wave her off

"Oh, uhm, I was going to say about your loss." She says awkwardly and my mood level plummets.

"Oh. Uh yeah, thanks..." I look away.
