Irrelevant

This is my first song fic! It's might be slightly darker than my others, so you have been warned.
——————————————————
Let's start at the end
Becoming strangers once again
Or maybe that's all we ever were
Do you know how it feels
To crave a body made of steel
To give your all for no return

You HATED Calypso. And I'm not saying that you just didn't like talking to her. You internally were seething every time you were around her.

The reason? She had the one thing you didn't have. The love and affection of Leo Valdez. Leo was you're best friend for 5 years, but then the quest of the 7, and his stupid promise on the River Styx happened. You rarely said more than hi to him, before either one of you, mostly Leo, had to run of.

You had thought your crush on him was gone, but you had a spark of jealousy every time you saw those two together. The Witch, and the Repair Boy, what a perfect couple.

'Cause I've been running marathons
While you're still standing still
And I'd be anything for you
But I'll never fit the bill

You had tried to come out of your antisocial and shy shell, and spend time with Calypso, but she was just too different and rude to try to put up with.

There were times when you remembered the happiness and fun of being Leo's best friend, but those memories were few and hard to remember. You had two vivid memories though: the months you had thought Leo was dead. The months that had broke you, made you just a ghost of your former self, and the day he returned, with her. The heartbreak of losing him intensified when you realized that you had lost him, even when he was still here.

'Cause I'm irrelevant
You'll be fine without me
And it's evident, it shows
And in your excellence
I forgot I used to have my own
You won't even notice that I'm gone

You felt irrelevant to the wonderful yet heartbreaking Leo Valdez. You missed your hour long chats, when you would fall asleep in the bunker watching movies, helping him with projects. Ever memory felt like a stone berating you over and over. "Remember us, feel our pain." They taunt, leaving many a nights crafting yourself to sleep.

You consume my thoughts
I'm not sure that I'm in yours at all
Your mind is too far gone to see
The worst part of it all
Is that I desperately still want
Someone who never wanted me

The hardest part of all of this, was still loving the biggest heartbreak you've met, endlessly thinking of all that could have and should have been, just feeling the pain of everything this one boy has caused you.

'Cause you've been burning bridges while
I've been building homes
And I'm only your everything
When you feel alone
'Cause I'm irrelevant
You'll be fine without me
And it's evident, it shows
And in your excellence
I forgot I used to have my own
You won't even notice that I'm gone

There were the few, and extremely far between times, when Leo would talk to you and it would feel like the old times, but those days were slowly diminishing as time went on. It was clear to you that Leo only cared about you when he had no one else to spend time with, so you had thrown yourself into the things you loved, and spent time with the people you loved.

Are the days that I'll cling to you
Throw me to the lions and start anew
And who the hell are you
For the hell you've put me through

You used to spend days at a time with Leo, just being yourself and clinging to your best friend and huge crush, but now your life felt like a living hell, all because of him.

But I'm irrelevant
You'll be fine without me
And it's evident, it shows
And in your excellence
I forgot I used to have my own
You won't even notice that I'm...
... gone

You thought of all of this as you laid on the ground, slowly dying. When you saw Leo run over to you, you smiled softly. "Hey Valdez," you said. "That was incredibly stupid of you Y/N, jumping in front of me, you could have died," Leo said, but as he examined you more, the word died was softer and he realized what was happening. "Medic! I need a Medic over here!" He yelled out. He shifted you so you were in his arms, and you looked at his face. He was crying, and you were pretty sure you were too, but what drew your attention was a place on his head that was bleeding. "Oh my gods, Leo, your head." You said as you reached to touch it. "I'm fine Y/N, it doesn't matter right now." He said quietly, wiping a few tears off your face. "Don't you ever say that again. You're so important, and I'm just irrelevant. There's so much-" Leo cut you off. "Don't you ever say that again. You hear me? Don't say that again. You are one of the, no, the most important person to me." You definitely were crying now, and you struggled to keep your eyes open. "I'm tired," You said weakly. "No, no, no, you can't die. Please stay alive, for me, please Y/N." He said softly. "I'm sorry, I love you." You said, closing your eyes and exhaling your last breath. Leo held you close to him and sobbed. 'His best friend was dead. His crush that he thought was out of his league was dead. And the worst part? She died feeling like she was irrelevant.' He thought.

I'm sorry to anyone I made cry with this, and I'm sorry if it isn't the best quality. I think this may have been the first time I've killed the reader. Sorry. Also, I any of you feel like your irrelevant and not wanted on this earth, you are. Always remember that. I'm always here to talk. Goodbye, and I'll see you soon.
