To clarify any confusion about the last chapter:
Callie was hit by a car while texting and is now in a coma. Not to mention her father is at the hospital...
Alec rushed to the hospital, and is currently with her while her father has been no where to be seen.
And lastly, the end of chapter 13 is a flash back Callie had while she in her coma.
I'm so sorry for the confusion, as an author I totally forgot that you can't read my thoughts I had while writing the chapter. So my apologies.Alec's P.O.V.
******
I watched Callie's almost deathly white face, searching for a hint of life. She wasn't dead, but barely clinging to life. I walked over to her and grabbed her hand, which was connected to an IV.
"Callie please, please fight through it. I-" I stuttered through my sobs.
Only Callie could get me to cry.
"I love you, and I need you to wake up so I can tell you because I never told you before and you deserve to know that I love you. You deserve to know that your the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, and that I'm not over exaggerating. You have been my first love and I intend that you are my last." I gripped her hand even tighter and sobbed harder, I've never cried harder in my life. Just the thought of losing her made me want to die, Callie somehow managed to steal my heart all over again in just 3 short weeks. Some how in those 3 weeks I got her back and now here I was, about to lose her again."You love her?" I looked up and saw Zack staring at me holding a bouquet of roses.
"Yeah, she's my everything." I watched as Zack came down beside me.
"I warning you, she's a starving shark and your heart is a piece of meat. She will win your heart, and you can't do shit to stop it. I'm glad she found someone who truly cares though, but sadly it's when shes on the verge of death." I saw him wipe away a tear, and then he walked away. Leaving the roses on her bed and not anther word spoken.
*****
Just the sound of her heart monitor slowly, and rhythmically beeping was my life for 2 months.
Tormenting myself, I waited for the beeping to drop into a single, slow, dragging, beep. Doctors and nurses would always come and go, always telling me that I should consider 'pulling the plug', as she wasn't getting better. Nor was she getting worse, but there was a 50% that she wouldn't ever wake up. Even if she did, she may have serious memory loss, or a whole different mindset.Ever since the day her father called, I never heard or saw him again. Of course it raised questions, like;
Why was he here?
Was he the one who hit her?
Will he be coming back?I was worried, worried that if Callie woke up, her father was going to turn up and hurt her again.
***
I woke up in the chair beside Callie's bed, and glanced at my phone; 6:30am. I left for work and the desk nurse, Julia, smiled and told me she would call if anything happened. Julia was the only one here who seemed to keep hope for Callie to wake up.
"Thanks Julia, I'll be back around 3." I waved and left. Driving towards the dinner, I turned up the radio as New Romantics by Taylor Swift played. I wasn't a taylor fan, but Callie's favorite song brought me comfort.
I arrived, and Dave greeted me.
"Hey kid, how's she doing?" He smiled and I shrugged.
"Still unconscious." Dave shook his head, and patted my back.
"Keep on praying kid, keep on praying." And as if on cue, my phone rang. I grabbed it, it was my mom. My joy gone, I pressed ignore and put it back into my pocket, but it rang again. I answered it and I sighed.
"Sorry mom, I'm-"
"ALEC SHE'S AWAKE, SHE'S ASKING FOR YOU, HURRY!" I dropped my phone, and sped to the hospital. I made it to the hospital in less than 2 minutes, and I parked crookedly, but I didn't give two shits. I ran to her room, ignoring the protest from doctors of my running. I made it to her room, but I stood outside her room.
This was real, she was okay.
I walked in, and my cobalt eyes met her hazel ones. We both just looked at each other, Callie slowly got up and walked towards me. I stood frozen as she approached me, she touched my cheek and I saw a tear slide down her face.
"Alec I-"
"I love you, and I've been waiting 2 months to tell you that. I just-" I paused, and then grabbed Callie. I felt her melt into my arms, and I cried.
"I missed you so much. I missed us." She pulled away, and pulled my face down to hers.
"I love you too, but your too tall." She giggled and kissed me, her hands running though my hair as my hands held her tighter.
I wasn't letting go of her, never have, never will.
