I wake up to the sound of Aspens screams and soon they come to a stop. I sit up in bed seeing that Harry is no longer in bed next to me. I get out of bed rubbing my eyes walking out of the room and down the hall. I peak into the room seeing that Aspen is in Harry's arms staring up at him as he prepares to heat up her bottle. He does everything he needs to as if he's done it a million times before. I'm still shocked that he was so worried.
I step into the room and Harry looks over his shoulder at me. "You could have stayed asleep"
"I wanted to make sure everything was okay" I say walking over looking down at Aspen.
"She's perfectly fine" He takes her small hand in his placing a small kiss to it. I smile kissing them both before going back into the bedroom. I sit down on the bed looking over at the clock seeing that it was close to 3 in the morning. The door opens and I see Harry still holding Aspen and I raise an eyebrow. "I went to lay her down and she looked at me like I upset her. I picked her back up and now she's happy again"
"She has you wrapped around her finger already" I laugh and move over so that he can lay her down next to us. I smile as he lays her down in between us. She kicks her feet a little looking at us both and I smile as Harry grabs her feet kissing her little toes making her squeal with joy. I laugh a little looking at Harry and I notice something. "I have never seen you this happy and content" He looks over at me as if I'm said the most bizarre thing ever.
"That's not true...I've been happy with you and quite content"
"Well yes of course but now everything seems complete" I lay my head against his shoulder and he kisses my forehead.
"We're a family"
The next day I decided that I was going to go out for lunch with Liam. I was going to bring Aspen but Harry said that his mother was coming over to see her. I waited in the coffee shop for Liam to show, looking around taking in the smell of the coffee beans. Something about the smell of coffee just made me very happy.
Once I saw Liam come inside I waved to him causing him to walk over to the table. He sat down across from me and he bolted off questions as to where Aspen was.
"She's with her father and grandmother"
"I was looking forward to seeing her"
"You have the rest of her life to see her" I laugh and he shrugs.
"So hows the parent life?" He asks and I think for a moment. So far everything has been nothing but perfect. I know it's not going to stay that way for long but for now I'll be happy with it.
"Aspen's great and so is Harry. We're all very happy"
"I'm happy for you. Has her mother said anything?"
"Anything like what?"
"You know? Like wanting to see Aspen or possibly taking her back"
"Liam don't say things like that. We have all come to an agreement. Ms. Jones and Taylor are more than welcome to see Aspen but they aren't her parents as far as Aspen knows. When she gets older and everything is explained to her she very well may want to see them and know them better. That decision will be up to her but regardless Harry and I are her parents"
"I know I know I've just never thought about doing something like that. It seems a bit risky"
"Hence why you haven't done it." I roll my eyes
"Don't get pissy with me I was only voicing my opinion"
"Are you here to question me on my life style choices or are we going to talk about something else for once" I don't know where all of my irritation is coming from but I know that I didn't want to hear what Liam had said. We sit there in silence for a moment before Liam says that he is going to get a cup of coffee. When he does come back he talks for a little while about his parents and how they're pressuring him to have a traditional wedding but that's not particularly what he wants.
"It's not their wedding. It's you and Edwards"
"I know but you know how my parents can be. My father won't say anything but my mother will take offense to it as if I've personally offended her"
"Your mom has always been over the top"
He huffs nodding. Liam's mother is still slowly getting over the fact that her son is gay. She didn't particularly hate him for it but it was a weird concept to handle.
We talk for a few hours and I soon begin to feel that I've left Harry alone with Aspen for a little to long. I say goodbye to Liam and go out to the car waiting for me. I get in the car and they take me home. I go inside seeing that so far everything seems to be in order. I go upstairs going to Aspen's room seeing that Harry has Aspen in his arms.
I peak from behind the door watching them together. Harry seems to be at peace. He's happy and so is she. She moves her arms out of the blanket and he quickly covers her again. "It's cold in here pumpkin" I smile coming into the room and he looks up at me. "Welcome home"
"I see that the house hasn't been burned down"
"Just because I'm not as parental savvy as you doesn't mean I'm incapable of taking care of my daughter. I've watched parenting videos" I laugh and kiss his cheek taking her from his arms. She was wide awake. "She just woke up from her nap"
"No wonder she's so awake" I grab her hand in mine kissing it. She looks at me and then to Harry attempting to get her arms out of the blanket again. "Oh no you don't" I put them back and it seems for a moment she poked out her lip. She was expecting me to let her get out of her blanket.
I lay her down in her play bit turning on her mobile. I grab Harry's hand along with the baby monitor and take him downstairs. "Have you eaten?" He asks and I shake my head no. He takes me downstairs and into the kitchen. "What do you want?"
"Are you going to cook?"
"I am"
"You can cook?"
"Of course I can...Just because I have cooks doesn't mean I can't cook" He chuckles pulling out a random foods so that we can decide what we want for dinner.
